When we built our home 4 years ago...I spent a lot of time looking for a natural white and/or white washed brick. Most of the uneven, light colored bricks had a pinkish look, and "white" bricks looked very commercial. To get the look we wanted, we ended up painting our brick. It definitely added to our cost, although we were able to use a brick that was overstocked & grey mortar (so much less than taupe!) I hope for your sake there are more options now...but you may just have to bite the bullet and have it limewashed. Probably if there was such a nice brick now it would cost more anyway, so it might be a wash. And you would definitely need the expensive mortar.

SeriouslyMel, I saw your downstairs house plan you posted. Do you mind sharing the upstairs? I'm in the process of modifying this plan also and am looking for ideas. How is the build coming along? I would love to see pictures if you have time.

I may be traveling down the same path as you...I have posted on the original comment stream to SeriouslyMel asking a lot of the same questions you have. I have reached out to John Tee, who did not produce the changes, and they directed me to a gentleman at Architectural Overflow, LLC, who did not produce the changes. Like you, I am most curious of the impact these changes had on the 2nd floor. Have you had any better luck finding out who may have produced these changes to the Abberley Lane design? Appreciate it.
