Capital Precision 48inch- Performance and Repairs

I had a few concerns ,since reading different posts.

1) a few sales people have mentioned repair and receiving parts as a difficulty

SO ARE repairs and parts readily available in Canada (Quebec)?

2)Overall, I cannot get information on reliability for this product .Will I be satisfied with this range or is it worth getting the Culinary series. (is it worth the extra$$)

    1) Most parts that you would need for repair are non-propietary parts. Parts that are supplied to Capital and available at or to any shop that repairs pro-style ranges. I don't know if there is a problem if you do need proprietary parts. Maybe a Canadian will chime in.

2)Precison and Culinarian are extremely similar. Main differences would be the orifices, burners and grates. Precison has been out longer and has a good track record. There were a few hiccups when the first Culinarians rolled out 1.5 years ago but now seems to match the record of Precision. If you are paying standard market prices I think the Culinarian is worth the premium. If you are getting a big discount on the Precision tell us what it is then we can give you an opinion if it is worth the extra money.

Capitol, through Trevor, has been very responsive to me. I have no problem recommending them, but I just can't recommend a sealed burner produced by anyone. Open burner is the way to go. (anyone's) There is no downside.

The Capital Culinary one is about $2000.00 more than the Precision one. Is it worth the extra money for the open burners and 23BTU burners??? Thanks

I'm very happy with the Precision, and while I suspect I may be that much happier with a Culinarian it hadn't been released when I bought my range. That said, the Precision is light years ahead of any other range I've cooked on. I'm in Toronto and I have had no issues with the service. I needed minor service twice. Each time an igniter needed replacement. I contacted Capital customer service at the number on their web page and they arranged for service through a local appliance repair company.

Finally, I bought the Capital Precision 48inch. This forum helped me find very valuable information. Now the issue is VENTILATION (in the middle of the kitchen -or on the wall) . Having the capital range integrated in the island ,gives me more available space and cabinets on the wall. ANY COMMENTS on the best ventilation hoods available ? Thanks
