Certainteed siding/shingles...anyone have pictures?

We are looking at going with Certainteed siding and shingles. I tried out their online colorview thing, and while it is an awesome idea, the colors just don't seem "true" to the samples I have.

Has anyone used Certainteed siding and shingles and have pics of your completed home? Please post pics and let me know what colors you used. I"d like to see some real life pictures.

Thanks!

Wish I had a better picture to show you. I keep meaning to take some better ones. We used Certainteed Impressions siding, and are very happy with it. Get tons of compliments. This is a close up of the back of the garage when they were installing the siding.

We have Certainteed Cedar Impressions. We've been pretty happy with the results but I agree that the online viewer provided by the company didn't seem true to color.

    Here's ours:

Very nice homes! Thanks for posting pics.

We are considering a color of siding called Weathered Blend, or Canyon blend. I'm worried that it will look like it has too much "grain", since it has a little of a wood grain look to it. Would be nice to see a pic of an actual home with these colors...or any other certainteed colors to get a visual of how they look as a whole. We would definitely be open to any of the other colors if we liked what we saw in pictures too.

Oh...and we will be using regular siding, not the cedar impressions.

Anyone else have any pics for us?

sydney4, My wife and I came across this post and really liked the color combination of the stone with the siding. what type of stone did you use? and what type of trim boards were used with the vinyl siding?

Thanks ldg4511, The trim pieces in the gables are the same material as the gutters and fascia which I believe is aluminum. The color of that trim is natural clay. The window cladding is bronze and the stone is a snapped dove gray which the sales rep told us is also sometimes called heather gray. I neglected to mention in my first post that the color of the siding is rustic blend. Hope this is helpful.

sidney4...do you happen to have a pic of the whole front of your house? I'm loving your colors!

Thanks nikkidan. Here's a wide shot. The front looks a little barren, We still have lots of landscaping to do yet.

I would skimp on the landscaping and let everyone enjoy that beautiful house.

Sydney4, Thanks for your response. Like I said, my wife and I like the look of your home and the way your choices came together. Is the stone natural or manufactured? If it is manufactured, who makes it?

It's natural stone. Earthworks catalog has pictures of dove gray but i couldn't find any on their web site. I did however find this link

Here is a link that might be useful: Dove gray

Any more pictures? I'm REALLY having a hard time coordinating the windows, siding, soffit/fascia, window trim, garage doors, etc!

I have the Certainteed Carriage House shingle in Brownstone. It is a scalloped shingle. Not a look for everyone, but it works with our exterior design. My parents are building and are using the Grand Manor also in Brownstone. We both love the color. It is a nice brown that does NOT look like that 80's chocolate color that was popular. It has a cooler undertone. It can look VERY dark when wet, almost blackish brown. The photo I have posted is full mid-day sun. This is (obviously) our garage side of the house, not the front elevation but it is the only pic I have that showcases the shingles the best.

tinycastles...do you have more exterior pics of your home for me? It's looking like the colors that I "semi-decided" on today are very similar to your colors. Thanks for the pic...I do like your shingles!

I know this is an older post but Joyce what color is your siding?

It's cedar blend which is discontinued.

    Thank you. Very pretty!

We used the Certainteed Cedar Mountain. Our builder subbed out the install. It is difficult to install compared to regular siding. Long story short, the sub wasn't qualified and ended up walking off the job. Most of it had to be taken off and re-installed. We installed dark brown garage doors and will put up the matching shutters if the temperature ever gets above freezing again. Our house sits about 150 yards off the road. From the road, it just looks like regular siding. It isn't until you get closer that you can see the texture.

My husband doesn't want the up keep of real wood, so I am looking at certainteed. I am disappointed that the naturals such as rustic blend and cedar blend in the shingle shake siding have been discontinued it appears.

Are these shingles made of the cement board like Hardie?

I know this is an old thread but Sydney4 did you use the individual polymer shingles for your house in Rustic Blend or did you use the traditional siding panels? Thanks in advance.

They were panels , as I recall, although I think the panels were in smaller sections than what you typically see for traditional siding. CertainTeed no longer makes Rustic Blend so I am not certain if that would still be the case with newer versions . The siding is holding up well and I love the subtle variegation in the colors in the individual shingles. I was disappointed to hear it had been discontinued. Hope this was helpful.

Thank you for your quick response I am very impressed by the variation in the colors. I am glad to hear it is holding up well. It looks fantastic on your home.

We have their siding in marigold...I am very happy with the color.

Thank you for the picture. It is always very helpful to see real world examples. That is a great color. Did you have any installation issues with your contractor due to the unique installation method of this brand of siding?

Hello, We are installing horizontal siding. I'm between Timber Blend and Weathered Blend, does anyone have any pictures to share, the little sample is not helping much :-)

Interested in Cedar Mountain trim from certainteed, but struggling to visualize
  • 7 years ago

sidney4, joyce_6333; Im finding cedar blend and rustic blend on the current certainteed website and at menards (OH) as available still. Maybe they brought back? Thanks for inspiration, Im considering!

Cindywaller, thanks for the heads up. I hope they did. We had a need for additional siding for an outdoor living area several years ago that was designed to match the style of the rest of the house and have always been disappointed that we had to substitute a siding that didn't match the rest of the house.

So, Ive ordered cedar blend, and Im not crazy about the slight change in color, or maybe it's me. It seems darker, slightly rosy vs. cedar. But its water over the dam, now. I cannot decide whether to go with lighter or darker soffit/fascia or darker. Lighter seems the norm but Im drawn to darker. The roof is very prominent coping down the front of house and is called driftwood, a varying grey, maybe brown, blend. can I get away with a grey/green soffit and porch detail? Maybe pics would help?

please do post a photo. I am curious to compare the "new" cedar blend with the cedar blend we used 9 years ago. I inquired about it to the company shortly after you posted that it was available but they couldnt tell me if it was comparable to previous line.
Sidney4- i took a pic from Certainteeds samples, if you can stretch picture to see names of colors. Cedar blend is double piece on right. Rustic blend looks very dark. (Small pieces, I know)

Current ” Rustic Blend” is dark

Does anyone have RECENT pictures of Rustic Blend in Monogram vinyl siding??

DONT use it. My siding shrunk and chipped ( with the weather) also boards broke in the wind. Certainteed won't cover anything but a portion of the siding. If I was using a cement fibre siding, I would go with something a little sturdier and a qualified contractor.
