The houe seems to be an old split-level. There's not a lot you can do with the facade. Concentrate on upgrading the roof, since the roof is so prominent.

Start by digging up the lovely Japanese maple on the corner...tuck it away until it is ready for a place of glory in the new yard. I am distracted by a) several siding types b) the non-cohesive rooflines c) the penitentiary type windows on the upper floor d) the chimney that looks like an oversized nose.

Get rid of the chimney. Bring the original house roofline up to the level of the addition. Add a dormer over the front door area, letting the light flood the foyer. Siding in one element. Decide what era/style you want the house to be to inform your choices for moulding and trim.

The house has nice massing with the two bold hip roof forms anchored by the chimney, but it seems torn between being traditional and contemporary, with the corner glass block (?) windows in the horizontal band being out of character with the rest of the house. If you could change these to match the paired double hungs, remove the stone under these windows and replace with lap siding, and redo the front porch to feel a bit more substantial, I think this would be a big improvement. The below is a photo of a low-slope porch that could work for you, perhaps a flat roof porch would work even better.
