i would suggest a different headboard..its too small for the bed , and needs to be much taller to balance things..actailly aside from that and a rug , things look good.

Headboard is the main concern here, Do you plan on doing alot of work to the bedroom? How much time? etc are you willing to put into it? Rework Design wise or no construction?

Glad you recognized the headboard I would really think about doing a tray ceiling in that bedroom with some can lights and maybe accent lights around it if it were my own. Other than that some moneywise, timewise etc are you looking to do?

I agree that a taller headboard would work better. Rugs on the floor would be nice as well, especially for the dog. They have a difficult time walking on wood floors. I'd move the 3 prints from over the bed to the wall between the bath and hall door and maybe add a chair on that wall as well. Always nice to have a place to sit to put your shoes on. Slightly more substantial curtain panels hung closer to the ceiling would look nice. It's a lovely room and really doesn't need much.

I would put the longer, lower dresser that is in the bay, on the wall where the TV is and put the TV on it.
The current TV chest I'd move just outside the bathroom. I'm assuming the camera hasn't distorted the size of these too much. For all windows, I'd add inside mounted soft roman blinds on the individual windows and two stationary panels hung floor to ceiling. At the bay the panels would hang outside the bay. A nice floor lamp and chaise for lounging or reading would complete the bay. Yes, you do need a more substantial headboard and nice drum chandys both over the bed and in the bath. If the idea of not having a rug relates to your older dog, I'd put that off until a future date, but a large rug to pull half way under the bed and extending about 16" on each side would be a finishing touch to further warm your lovely room.

Make a simple tall headboard out of plywood and then buy two matching matlesse bedcovers, using one to upholster the headboard and one to use as a spread.....add matching pillow shams, in a non-ruffly, very "clean" style......this should all be solid white or cream, creating a very simple "palette".....then add a few large patterned throw pillows, rather bright, to pick up the colors of the pretty parrots in the prints over the bed. The height of the new headboard will make the entire bed look taller so you might want to add some more substantial lamps on the side tables. I might also add wooden blinds on the windows. It's a pretty room already, good luck!

Thank each and everyone of you who has offered suggestions. We are in the process right now of experimenting with some of your ideas. Although we cannot make any structural changes to the room, we can incorporate almost every other idea that was given us. Once I have a finished room, I would like to send you photos showing all your ideas.

I would try a new color on the walls perhaps a warm sage green, it will make the white bedspread pop, some nice toss pillows and a blanket at the bottom of the bed will warm it up as well. It's a nice looking room. Good luck!

I think you could use more substantial drapes than the lace given the dark substantial furniture.
