bathroom toe kick heater question

Hi, We're finally nearing the end of our construction project. I've been posting in the kitchens and bath forums, but now have a question about our bathroom heating. I'm hoping that someone can help.

Here's the story--The tile should finally be in on Monday and installation will begin. Hooray! We've been concentrating so much on the kitchen, that we're a bit overdue to choose a bathroom vanity.

The plans call for a toe kick heater. My question is whether we need to purchase a vanity cabinet that has a toe kick or if we can use one with feet. Our choices are limited for the size we need (preferably under 30 inches) with a toe kick built-in. Thanks. Linda

Very late to the party, but I have the same issue thirteen years later.

You can't put a floor register under a cabinet - it is not up to code.
The heating element has to come to the front of the cabinet for code, so if there are vanity legs, heater will be attached to bottom of the cabinet and visible, looking pretty after-market.

Result - get the best looking vanity you can find that sits on the floor. Not a nice as the ones with legs, but to each her own.

You usually cut them out yourself. Becuase they come in a few different sizes.

I'm ignorant about this, so probably asked the question incorrectly.

Second try--We have a toe kick heater in the kitchen. The cabinets go all the way to the floor and there is a toe kick. The face of toe kick was cut out for the heater, so now we see the grill. That's my total experience with toe kick heaters.

In choosing a bathroom vanity, do we need one that goes all the way to the floor so that we'll do the same thing as in the kitchen, or is it possible to use a toe kick heater with a cabinet that has feet--with a space between the floor and the underside of the cabinet?

What I think you will have to do is go down to a plumbing supply house or look on line for a toekick heater and see what it looks like. They will come in a few different leagth. BUY the cabinat as you would do any other cabinit. Just have the carpenter cut the spot for the toekick heater. On the toe kick heater itself there will have a supply and a return for piping & electric.

If your vanity sits on legs with a space under it, why not put a floor register under there? It seems like the obvious solution.

It might be a good idea to equip it with one of those curved deflectors to push the heat out into the room.

Thanks. As you can probably tell from my other posts, I don't have experience in this area. Our GC said toe kick heater. We really want a vanity with legs, to expand our small space. I saw pics of floor registers, but didn't want to ask any more dumb questions. I appreciate your suggestion!!!
