The cabinets are painted in a satin paint from C2 Paints called "Russian Olive" C2-8056. The walls are an eggshell finish in a soft greenish-grey called "Gull" C2-7461. The counters are soapstone that my fabricator called "Classic Donato".

I thought they had a green or grey tint to them, but with photos/computers you can never tell if you're seeing the true color. Do the cabinets appear more green or grey in person?

In person, the cabinets have a decidely light olive green colour.

I love your soapstone! I've never seen "Classic Donato" before. And it looks fabulous as your full backsplash, too!

What brand/model are your patio door and windows? They're really good looking. I'm looking for patio doors and am just befuddled about whats good and whats good enough. I really like the look of your patio door.

I don't think the doors and windows have a brand. They were custom made locally to my architect's specification. The hardware on the door is an Omnia lever/deadbolt set. The handle style is Omnia No. 762 in brushed chrome.

Great kitchen, James. Love that Russian Olive; it has been one of my C2 favorites for a long time - very understated and a beautiful complement to the soapstone. Hope you enjoy the nifty new cooktop and oven - a little change from your classic Lacanche. And the woodstove - wow, what a fun thing to do! Enjoy it all.

It's beautiful. Everything looks so sleek and I really love the subtle cabinet color with the lighter walls. Your sink looks like jewelry. I can't imagine dirtying it EVER.

James, I just had to say again how much I like your new kitchen. The layout, paint colors, the countertop - and I'm not usually a fan of soapstone's often rustic appeal - the cooktop (I love that cooktop), all your windows and the back door which has inspired us. I also love the view of the back of your house. I'm a windows freak and hence adore your space - both from the inside and out. Beautiful.

Doh! Why didn't I think of a wood burning oven? I just love your kitchen, its surroundings and your house! Simply beautiful.

Thanks everyone for your nice comments. I've been using the kitchen now for just over a month. I have to say, it's a pleasure to work in. I sometimes miss my old Lacanche -- but not too much...it was time for a change.

The extra deep counters mean I have plenty of room to spread out. When we're baking pizza, I can set up my bowls of capers, anchovey fillets, tomato puree, olive oil, etc. along the back of the counter, and still have plenty of room to stretch out my dough. We also roast meats, bake bread and can even grill over coals in the oven. Great fun.

My only regret is that I wish I left a bit more open space in front of the oven. Working with long handled peels, I'm always afraid that I'm going to clobber someone in the head. Can't wait for warm weather again....when we can expand our activities out onto the deck.

What are the overall dimensions (esp. the width)? Our kitchen is a "wide" galley- but I don't think I could fit as much in as you have!

The kitchen in the narrow galley portion is 9' wide with counters along both sides that are 30" deep, leaving a 4' wide corridor between the counters. The overall length of the kitchen is 26'. Counters and cupboards run along the entire 26' length of the west wall. The east side of the galley portion, which includes the fridge, cooktop and electric oven is 11' in length. The kitchen then widens into an open area (which includes the wood-fired oven) measuring roughly 15' x 15'.

Thanks so much-- my kitchen is 9.5' x 14.5'--(without the attached laundry room) so I guess it ends somewhere around your sink. I am also planning on 30" deep counters-- at least along one side and I plan a corner window along with a door to the deck in the same configuration that you have -- although I am considering an accordion style window as I think it might be cool to extend the counter top to the deck side for real indoor/outdoor eating/cooking.

Very Nice, Oh what I would do with 26' of counter and cupboard space. You must be loving every minute of time that you get to spend preparing food. I love the the two windows and the view out of them is the icing on the cake.

I love your kitchen. I was admiring the color of your cabinets, and thinking they reminded me of the island that we just beadboarded & painted.

Believe it or not-we used C2 Russian Olive as well!! We also considered Fava.

I am thinking of antiquing them too. We used the Satin Finish.

Did you put a top finish on them? I just brushed up against the island today with a metal sweater button and it left a mark that looked like pencil.

You have excellent taste. I love the yard too.

I'm in the middle of renovating my galley kitchen. Is there anything you would have done differently?

I'm contemplating;
1. wood vs grey limestone on floor
2. light painted cabinet doors (like yours) vs dark espresso shaker.
