Trane Clean Effects - HELP!

Question - for anyone ! - help - I have a Trane Clean Effects air filter attached upstream to a Trane Variable Speed air handler. Often a pool of water develops at the Trane Clean Effects and then spills into the auxiliary drain pan - - it's not the evaporater coil freezing up or inadequate draining from the evaporator coil - it's just the Trane Clean Effects. My system is an XL 16i 2 stage compressor (4 ton) - the variable speed handler is set to 4 ton, normal airflow (not high not low) and "enhanced mode" for the variable speed operation. *(these are all set with dip switches 1-6.) What would be causing this unusual condensation?? There doesnt seem to be a lot of dirt in the collector cells and I have very light MIRV 8 filters in the returns (my Trane dealer said not to get MIRV 11 as it would cause undue air restriction and freeze up the evaporator coil - a problem I once had with this system (but it was due to low charge and not the filters anyway). Any thoughts on why the water collecting at the trane clean effects? Help?

Can you post a picture of the setup? The CleanEffects doesn't produce water, so it's very likely that it's coming from the coil condensation. Sounds like a clogged drain line or an inadequate drain system. Have the company that installed it back out.

Clean effects do not produce water, and being an electronic type air cleaner, doesn't play well with water.

HVAC guy was out today and thought he fixed it by leveling slightly the air handler but it then occurred again. Could it relate to the air speed settings of the variable speed air handler? Someone suggested that but I'm not sure. Also, when it occurs it typically occurs when the compressor is running at full speed (second stage) and not in stage 1. I hear the stages click in by the relay on the TCONT803 thermostat. One click for the air handler, one click for stage 1 and one click for stage 2. Could it relate at all to the Comfort R settings or not enough air being pulled through which would cause me to think it's best to ramp up the variable handler speed to high (450 CFM)? Then again this might actually cause more suction at the point of the clean effects and if the problem is some sort of low pressure at the clean effects then raising the CFM speed would actually make the drain water sucked more into the clean effects - - does anyone have a good sense of how the pressure gradients work near the Clean Effects and how to test to see why water would be sucked in?

The Ac coil is between the blower and the clean effects so there is a leak in the pan, improper pitch/leveling of the unit.

Is there a trap on the drain?

If not that's the cause, read the other recent post about no trap on unit

I would avoid using any air cleaner that produces Ozone (in any amount) as this has been noted as something that over time can lessen lung function.

I believe the problem you are having is due to the unit pulling moisture into your return duct and when the unit cycles off moisture falls thru the unit and overwhelms the condensate pan. You might try cleaning your filters and resetting the cleaner.
