I like Bar Keeper's Friend for cleaning my stainless steel sink. And I like Sprayway Granite and Marble Cleaner which I buy at Cost Plus. I remember from that post that others like the Method granite cleaners.

I'd like to know this too. I have a SS polish that smears alot. Right now I use a microfiber towel with just warm water and that works pretty well. If I need more cleaning power, I use a Method spray (pink grapefruit) that works well too (also with the microfiber towel.) I usually follow up with a plain towel to dry it.

But a SS polish that doesn't smear would be nice for a more thorough cleaning.

We just had stainless sink and appliances put in. I had to try everything to see what works best! For my sink, Barkeepers Friend is great. Also the other stainless products work fine.

For the appliances, I tried Crema Brite (sp?), Weiman Spray (sp?), a restaurant stainless cleaner that DH sells, Lemon Pledge spray, and Pledge all purpose wipes.

After trying them all, here's the verdict: Weimann spray works the best. Pledge spray was the worst. Here's the problem - after cleaning and wiping, the appliances looked good for a short time. After a while, you could see the streaks and smears. I really wasn't happy with that. So I was reading on here about microfiber cloths and went out and got a bunch, and I must say I'm sorry I haven't discovered these wonderful things sooner!

Anyway, I looked in my appliance manual on cleaning and it said to clean using mild dish detergent on a sponge. So I used a little bit of a soapy sponge and IMMEDIATELY wiped with a microfiber cloth, and these appliances are shiny and gorgeous with not one single streak! I couldn't be happier!

Now, I am going to try the weiman again now that they are so clean just to see if that does anything such as help to repel fingerprints or whatever, because I am thinking maybe some of the streaking I was getting is from using so much product. So I'll see if it helps. But at this point I think my appliances could not look any cleaner or brighter with the dish soap and microfiber method.

I was watching HGTV the other day and one of the kitchen designers said to use a little OLIVE OIL on a rag to clean SS appliances. She said to be sure to wipe with the "grain." I have to admit I was completely surprised to hear that suggestion. I thought I'd heard it all by now about cleaning SS. I haven't tried it but thought I'd pass it along for what it's worth.

I don't like 'stainless steel' cleaner or anything that's greasy, as I also find the SS looks smeary faster. I use water and microfiber...and yesterday when I needed to clean off my greasy/dusty hood that had gone too long without cleaning, I used a vinegar-water solution, then the water-dampened cloth and dry microfiber.

I agree with squigs! I either use a little bit of dish detergent in hot water and dry with a microfiber cloth or an old white cotton t-shirt or I use a steamer to clean with. If you steam you don't need anything but the steam and a cloth to dry. My stainless looks nice and shiny and has no residue from products. These are by far the best methods I have found and I really like my stainless to look clean.

I agree with most of the others. I have one microfiber wet with water then follow with a dry. Stainless always looks great and no streaking. My sister in law has the same fridge, she saw mine last week and couldn't believe how good it looks. She uses stainless cleaner and the whole thing is streaky.
