If you have used the liquid detergent cup that is pretty normal with whatever frontloader. This cup is flushed by water owerflow during the main wash fill. Just remove to empty it at the end of the cycle.

Also is pretty normal in the fabric softener dispenser

DO NOT use the liquid detergent cup with powdered detergents, just remove it. Powdered detergent would make a gummy stuff in th cup and wouldn't be properly dispensed

Don't worry about the water left in the Dispenser.

It's clean water ..

and wouuld get flushed out (exchanged) with the next wash,
which would normally be a few times a week.

I have that machine too and the bleach area is completely full to the rim with water at the end of the cycle.

This is my #4 FL (it was just delivered yesterday). None of the other FL's I've used left this amount of water in the soap dispenser.

The manual doesn't show it well enough, however remove both bleach and fabric softener dispensers and rinse them under a faucet with very warm water. Also check if the drawer has some part clogged by caked fabric softener. eventually wipe it away with a cotton swab. Do it once a month

What Regus Patoff wrote is true unless one uses the liquid detergent cup. In this case one has to empty the cup before pouring detergent

I did read the manual and I always read the manual before using any new product... I'm a geek. The manual state: "NOTE: It is normal for a small amount of water to remain in the bleach and softener compartments at the end of the cycle."

What constitutes small amount is debatable. I wanted to make sure that I don't have a defective unit. Depending on the wash cycle, sometimes, as lorimckay said, the bleach and softener dispenser is almost full of water. Mine is almost always filled up to quarter of the bleach or softener dispenser volume.

I do believe it's a normal operation, and not a defect... unless of course a design defect. It's my second unit. I had the first one exchanged and it also had this 'feature.' I think it'll be OK as someone said before, the clean water will be flushed out (with detergent!) in the next wash. I leave my dispenser drawer drawn out for precaution. My the way, this 'feature' was mentioned in page 17 (if you have the exact same model as I do), and not 28 (as Hidroman said).

Hidroman's manual is for the LG version of this machine.

The 2 look very similar. There is actually some good additional info in it that the Kenmore didn't cover.

I don't have that model washer, but mine does the same thing. Sometimes it is very little water left in it and other times it is full to where i have to empty it or it will spill with pulling the drawer out. I think it is a design flaw, as there was another thread about someone else having this problem, but they also had liquid detergent running down it. I just open it slowly after using liquid. I worried at first also if it was a defect, but these front loaders have all kinds of quirks!!

This water left is not a design flaw. That's a cup and behaves ... as a cup. Unless one turns it upside down, it doesn't empty by itself.

To figure out how this "cup thing" works, take a coffee cup, squeeze some dishwashing liquid in it, close your sink drain with the plug, hold in hand the cup under the open sink faucet. Water overflows the cup (your own detergent dispenser) and fills the sink (your washing tub). When you close the stopcock the cup is still full of water. It's **you** with **your wrist** that turn the cup upside down and empty it

The washer dispensing cup for liquids works the same way .... but the washer lacks of a wrist to empty the cup :))

as for the bleach and fabric softener compartmens they work in a different way, cause they are self-emptying

They have a tiny reverse U-shaped pipe/hose/funnel.
Water fills these cups and overflows, also the reverse U thing is submerged and water starts syphoning, even when the fill ceases and does not overflow anymore.

Left water : a quarter of the cup volume is pretty normal. Sometimes you'll have more water left : fabric softener has made some "clumps" that have clogged the U-pipe. Remove it from the drawer and rinse under very warm water.

Notice these syphons may have different design. E.g. Mieles have a somewhat "russian dolly" design : it's a smaller and shorter pipe inside a slightly bigger one

A little bit of water in the dispensers are normal but when there is too much water or even liquid soap left in the dispensers is because the mechanism is clogged. You have to remove the tray completely. Clean that. With it still out, Look inside and you'll see the roof has small holes. Clean that with a bristle brush. There should also be a few slots somewhere on the inside. Flatten a straw or use a plastic garbage zip tie and insert in the slots and move it in and out. That might dislodge something that might be stuck in there. There should also be a panel at the bottom. Open that and pull the rubber tube out, remove the cap and let it drain (use shallow container to catch water). There should also be a filter--turn and remove and clean that also. Even a tiny bit of fluff can clog the system.

I have had my LG Tromm front loading washer for many years. It has just now decided to leave clean water in my soap dispenser...a lot of it. It's not normal.

My expensive FL is supposed to be an upgrade. I shouldn't have to empty the detergent dispenser full of water every time because I didn't have to do it with my "inferior" top loader. So I don't think it's part of the design that you have to do this. Want more evidence? This only started happening 2 YEARS after getting my FL. So I believe it's leveling & maintenance that needs to be done.

Can also be caused by the inlet valve seeping. A way to check is empty the cup immediately after the last load for the day then check a day+ later (longer is better) whether any water has accumulated.

My Kenmore did this all the time. It was a hassle. And mildew/mold start growing in the drawer if it's not cleaned often. Now I have an Electrolux and it happens, but not every single time like the Kenmore. It's annoying because I do not have a sink in my laundry room. I have to walk it to the kitchen to dump it. I think I probably should clean the drawer really well to make sure nothing is clogged.

In my case, I get water visible in the Clorox compartment at times. I noticed that it happens when the fabric softener isn't at the "correct" level.

On my Frigidaire, if the FS even with the top of the min level marker, water appears; if the FS is at the bottom of the min level marker, no water; if the FS is at the lower part of the plastic marker, no water (usually my FS winds up somewhere like this). Then again, sometimes water just happens to be there.

Might help to also check how much FS is being placed in the FS bin; just an idea.

My top loading GE Profile Harmony has a detergent compartment level full of water after the cycle ends. A nuisance. I suppose while this may not be normal it seems to at least be common. I'll stop obsessing now. The only time I like this washer is when I need to wash the king size comforter. The remainder of the time I long for my old top loading agitator that I could fill as full as I wanted and tweak to my heart's content.
