Frigidaire Affinity 7000 report

Overall we have been very disappointed with our purchase of a Frigidaire Affinity 7000 front load washer and dryer in July 2006. Here's why, including the good and bad points.

The washer initally made a rattling sound that turned out to be the light that was never installed properly. I took the lid off and saw it dangling loose inside. I did not want to cut a hole in the seal so I just taped the assembly to the inside of the machine to keep it quiet.

After two months the drain pump started making a terrible grinding sound and had to be replaced. Fortunately, we were able to continue using the machine while the replacement part was ordered.

Two weeks ago the control board started blinking "pau" and "45". Pushing buttons caused no effect. The technician couldn't reset it or even get it to work in diagnostic mode. According to Frigidaire, control boards are on backorder and won't be available until April 30th. Hmm...control boards must be popular.

We are also disappointed that our cotton clothes come out of the dryer extremely wrinkled. We have tried many of the ideas on this forum, but nothing seems to help. Maybe it is due to the size of the dryer drum being somewhat smaller than others in it's class.

On the positive side, the machine runs quietly and with little vibration, especially lately. This is important to us since it is in our kitchen.

Overall, we don't have much confidence that this machine is going to hold up very well. Fortunately, we purchased the 5 year service contract.
