My husband wants espresso trim work through out the house and I really want white colored cabinets. I was unsure if that would be conflicting because most white kitchens seem to have white trim. We do not have room for an island to incorporate espresso into the wood work. Do you think the stair case that is close to the living room which the kitchen opens up to should be a mixture of the white painted spindles with an espresso hand rail to have the two colors tied together?

Definitely yes on the stairs - white spindles and espresso handrail. As for the rest of the house....are the floors also espresso? Is it a more traditional space or modern? I will say that if you're doing espresso floors...floors are a lot of real estate...I would recommend doing espresso stained window sashes and doors, but then painting the trim/casing white, and the base trim white, and the floors espresso....
