he4t boot breaking 3rd time

On Friday, I did a sanitary cycle with our he4t washing machine. When it was done, there was water all over the floor. Saturday, the service technician came out, said I had a rip in the boot and replaced it with a new boot. It worked fine all weekend. Monday, it started leaking water all over the floor again. The new boot had come off. Today, they came and put the boot back on. It has been 30 minutes since he left and there is now water all over the floor again, because it has come off again. I called Sears and they said that since he just came, I have to wait until tomorrow to make an appointment for someone to come out.

What is going on? Is it really this boot? What would you do? I am so mad, that he just left and it is doing it again.

The HE models are problems. There is mold forming on the boots in our he/3t and those of several of our friends Sears is no help other than to tell us to do special empty cycles with dishwashing soap, put a fan in the room, etc. We are getting a group of people together from different states who are having problems. gnomelover,

Sounds like your machine may have a suspension problem which is allowing the drum to move more than it should, thus ripping the boot. Since this problem has occurred a few times, the tech should look at the cause of the problem, not just the symptom.

    Kingpintoo,

I have had my HE3t washer for over 4 years and it works as well as it has the day I got it. It is odor free, and clean around the boot and even between the metal wash basket and outer drum. There are so many factors involved that can affect a washing machine, including user habits, environment, water composition, and additives used, that I am not surprised that sometimes people experience a problem with their machine. Of course, it is never fun to be one of the people experiencing a problem, but that does not mean there is an inherent flaw with the machine. I do not hear of the wide range of problems with this machine as I had with the Neptune washer, and I believe many more of these models (Including whirlpool and kitchen aid versions) were sold than of the Neptune.

I don't think user habits, environment, water composition, and additives used would result in ripping the boot. If it happened to me, I would want to return the machine if possible. It was not said how long you had the machine. Many states have lemon laws but they usually require three breakdowns of the same thing.

    premier,

You misread my comments. My thought was that a suspension problem may be causing the boot problem. The various other factors I mentioned were related to a different post, and could help explain why some people have a mold problem and other do not.

The machine is 2 years old. It is not under warranty anymore. I definitely should have bought the extended warranty, but I didn't. They are coming on Tuesday to change the clamp on the boot, even though when he installed it, he said the clamp seemed fine. We have never had any other problems with this machine. It has never smelled moldy or anything. We live in California. I am just hoping that this will fix it on Tuesday.

So, they came and fixed it yesterday. He replaced the clamp and so far I have done 5 loads and it is fine. I never thought I would be so happy to be doing laundry.

    Glad to hear it!
