Window Treatment Help

I am trying to decide what to do with my front windows. I am going to use woven blinds in the back of the house, because we have a nice view and I don't want to cover all the windows too much. In the front, however, we need some privacy. I am thinking about putting up thick curtains with sheers. Here is a picture of the room. Do you have any advice? Color? Style? etc.

Thanks for your help!

First off, your home is beautiful! Are you wanting a shade/treatment you can still see through when it is down?

I included a link, below. It might be nice to be able to see out still, however, not in.... I love the windows, I think you should showcase them! I thought the first picture on the page below would be nice to still let light in, but have them down.

Advice? Sure, roll up those gorgeous rugs and send them to me!

I love your home, but I can't quite picture heavy curtains and sheers. You have such a nice sleek look going, it seems curtains would fight with that. I like the idea of the blinds dmwbcc posted above. However, if you really feel you need curtains, I'd do a heavy satin nickel rod and curtains on matching little rings in a colour that will blend with the wall colour.

Like I said, I love everything about your space, but did notice the pics at the far end of the table are blocked by the chandelier. Have you considered lowering them so they'll be more visible - or maybe it's just the angle of the photo - sorry if I'm stepping out of bounds mentioning it.

Wow, gorgeous rooms. Love the molding and would hate to see that covered.

Do you mind sharing the wall color in your room? I absolutely love it! I would hesitate to cover the moldings, too. And I am a fan of blinds in an area such as yours. Good luck and share your after pics with us please.

How much privacy do you need, and when do you need it. Do you need some during the day as well as night or mostly at night?

Beautiful room. I love a lot of windows. I would suggest some silk drapes, maybe in a red tone to coordinate with your rugs. If the sun is a problem, try some silk drapes with blackout lining.

We are on a fairly busy country road but the house is set back pretty far. The privacy would be more so that people can't see into the house from the road.

Thanks for all the nice comments. The paint is Benjamin Moore Florentine Plaster cc 520 and I am very happy with it. It looks good in all lighting. I agree about the pictures, I have been thinking about lowering them. I get a lot of compliments on the rugs, since we had zero budget to decorate this room, I had to use all the items I already had in my old house. The only new item is the chairs, which I bought at Home Depot for $35 each. The rugs I bought at auction sales for less than $400 for the pair... good deal!

What is your budget for the window treatments? That will give us a good idea of what's reasonable to suggest.

Wow, great buys on the chairs *and* the rugs! I *love* old wool oriental rugs. Beautiful room, I can see it with white sheers only, no drapes, if privacy is your only concern.

Hmmm... now I really don't know what to do. I really love silk curtains but it does cover the molding. What do you think about wood blinds? I just found a great deal on white and dark wood ones that would match the floor. Do you think they would work in the room. I am really challenged when picking out window coverings. Thanks.
