What type of venting hood did you use here? It appears flush with the cabinets.

Sorry we don't have this information handy as it was completed some time ago, but most manufacturers will have a flush option offered with the range you purchase.

There is a type of range hood called "insert", "liner", "liner-insert", or something similar. The principle is the same - a fully functional range hood, without the outer shell, designed to be installed inside a cabinet or custom enclosure (such as a wood or stone hood). The Insert/Liner is completely or almost completely concealed inside the cabinet.

In addition, there are some hood designs that are partially concealed, with only a small panel or edge of the hood visible.

We offer a variety of insert/liner, and semi-concealed range hoods. Please visit our website to see them: http://www.futurofuturo.com/

Take a look in the "Wall" category, and look for models called "Shade", "Insert/Liner", and "Master" - or call us at (800) 230-3565 for a personalized consultation.

What is the cabinet depth here to get the range hood to come out far enough over the burners?
Harborhvn, are you referring to the original post, or our post with the Insert/Liner ideas?

Upper cabinet depth can range from 12" to 24", with the 12"-16" range being most common.

Thanks, Futuro Futuro, but I was really interested in the actual cabinet depth. Can you really put an insert in a 12 inch cabinet and make that work? Most of the photos I see on Houzz have the hood extend over the range farther than that.

Hi and thanks for the question! The range here actually has a downdraft. Since no hood was required in the cabinet above, we were able to make it 12" deep like the other cabinets. -Emily

My stovetop has a down draft too, but I am thinking of changing the stovetop. How difficult will it be to put in a hood and get rid of the downdraft?

Hi and thanks for the question! The answer has a lot to do with the construction of your home, so it's tough to answer. The switch will require HVAC work of course to get the ducting up to the new hood. This may require more or less work depending on how close the new hood location is to the exterior of your home (it is important to vent outside if possible), and whether you will be able to run ducts in the ceiling (this can be more expensive depending on how the ceiling is framed) or whether you will create a bulkhead.

    Hope this helps!
