If the woodwork is white, they the chairrail should stay white. You can do 2 different colors above and below or the same - that's a personal preference.

Yes, woodwork is white, but right now the bottom is white, also. (Top is "Graphite" from Restoration Hardware.) Should I also paint the bottom (below the chair rail) the same color? Or leave it white? It is a long narrow room and we are putting espresso leather furniture with the Printer's collection media storage (PBarn). I;m thoroughly confused!

Rebekah, thanks for your first input here... please weigh in on what color I should keep or paint the bottom half of the room? The fireplace has a lot of molding and is white and right now the bottom of the room (beneath the chair rail) is also white. Should I leave it that way? Just painted the top part "RH Graphite". HELP!? I am attaching a photo to help out!

Doesn't look as dark or rich as in real life, but you get the idea this way, anyway!

Hi vdr928, sorry for the delay - catching up. After seeing the photo I'd paint below the chair rail a richer color than white - I'd go a shade lighter than the top color. Good luck!
