Throw Pillows

So if anyone remembers from last time. I've finally sold my t.v. YAY! Here is how the room is looking now.

Any ideas for throw pillows? I want to add some color to the room aside from the books.

Also feel free to comment on the positioning of the furniture. I'm thinking of moving the lamp to the back of the room and placing it on the side of the sofa.

This is to show the location of space:

I also purchased two of these as my side tables and will be placing the one between the two chairs as well:

I was thinking of grabbing this one from West Elm and maybe throwing a brass or gold object on the table to pull the colors together.

2 of theses:

1 of this:

This would be on the Gray sofa.

In addition I wanted to ditch those sheepskins on the leather sofas and grab these pillows for both of them:

Here are some objects for the coffee table I was thinking about:

First - the room looks great!

I like what you've picked out - you have good taste.

....my only suggestion with the room as far as accessorizing goes is to consider a taller lamp. Here are some thoughts...

    Maybe a pop of color?

Thank you! Actually really supportive to hear. I'm Trying...lol I'm new to this world of interior design. I've been trying to read as much as possible, collect inspiration and define a style" hopefully one that reflects who I am etc. Looks like it will be a long, but fun process.

You like the choices of pillows? awesome!

ah a brass lamp.. very nice and a very good idea.

I just bought that little lamp a month ago lolol

I love your choices, too. I agree about getting a taller lamp, but that little lamp may work on a taller table if you have one. Or on a buffet or console table - which would look great on that wall in the entry across from the door.

Keep us posted on what you do.

Love the pillows for your room, and the brass accents, and the first lamp Janice posted...or something along those lines. I also like olychick's idea of placing a console table in the foyer. Guess I'm in a "I like it" mood today. :)))

I think you're doing a great job on your own.

West Elm has great pillows, as you obviously know! :)

Crate & Barrel, CB2, Pottery Barn, and Pier 1 are also good places to look.

I like what you have so far!

I think the room looks very nice! Love those fuzzy pillows and the tables you have, too. The tables you ordered will look quite cool, I think. If they are tall enough, they may look great as sofa side tables and the lamp you have could work on one of those. I adore the first lamp Janice posted and it would tie in with the sofa pillows! It is going to look smashing!

    Thanks everyone!

    Here is the recent update:

What do you guys think? next will be the brass wishbone. Then next month hopefully a lamp.

Question: I was wondering If I should reposition everything. Rotate everything counter clockwise 90 degrees. This will position the sofa right under the middle window.

    what do you guys think?

I do like the pillows! I'm wondering if you need a throw folded along the back of the couch.... this is just my first thought when I see the room....

Or maybe you just need two more pillows, a bit smaller to place along side of those. Try the furry ones and take another photo - just for the look of it.

As far as moving the furniture - I'm not sure it will work for a couple of reasons.
    1. traffic flow to the seats themselves - you would have to walk around the side of the room to get to seating
    2. lamp cord issue (between the chairs)

But, it's just a little bit of grunt work, so you can always just move it, and see what YOU think.

All the lamps I posted are from Horchow. They are having a sale through the 8th - 30% off of everything. That lamp will be $160. I purchased a fixture from them this fall and was very happy.

    ah very cool Janice!

I did not pick up the small pillow, but I think I might go back today and pick it up.

What color throw do you think would work? I'm thinking maybe ivory to pull in the color from sheepskin pillows?

It looks great how they placed it down the middle.

Btw thanks for the link, but sadly I will have to wait it out for the lamp...hopefully in the coming months. I've added it to my list of items. :)

    Tempted to order theses, $15-25

I think you need something unexpected with those pillows. Maybe a turquoise one?(not a pair) Look at your colorful books and something small that color would keep it all from looking too matchy, matchy.

Will your couch fit on that wall with one chair on each side of the coffee table (instead of paired together on the same wall)? That might be a cozy conversation space, but I can't tell if you can walk around the coffee table that way. Pull the couch away from the wall a little and try the chairs. Or you could try the chairs kind of kitty corner in the room, so one is on the wall and the other is facing the back opposite corner, both angled toward the couch. Hard to describe what I mean, but hopefully you can just try some different positions and see what works.

Cream would be great - and easy to find. Homegoods, Target have a ton of great throws. Try it - if you don't like it, return it. Can't tell you how many times I do that!

I like olychick's suggestion of an unexpected color. I'm looking at that stack of books as well (actually, I thought of that, then re-read oly's post...) - the red, blue, yellow. Based on that - a Turqoise would look great. Again, Target and Homegoods have great pillows - rather than mail order - if you can get to one of those stores just so you can try it out.

And I always recommend moving furniture around to create a new look. Do it all the time in our house!

Loving your room. Clean lines, but very comfy.

    Thanks olychick!

question, when you suggest turquoise, do you mean for the throw or a small pillow? I'm not a fan of matchy matchy lol, but I also have this fear where things might look randomly thrown together.

Do those colorful books work for you guys? Those are logo books I've collected over the years. I actually have stacks of great looking books in my office upstairs (2nd project) lol My fiancé is moving in over the summer and I think she will probably put them away and replace them with her fashion books...lol

Janice, nice. Yeah, I think the staff at WestElm is like " ah this guy is back again to return!" lol

As always thank you both of you!

Oh also thinking about moving the lamp next to the right side of sofa, getting rid of the books next to the left side on that little table and leaving the space empty between the chairs. What do yah think?

maybe hopefully getting a round coffee table over the summer.

    ...confused.
Do you mean get rid of the table between the chairs?

I wasn't thinking turquoise for the throw; it might be fine or even great. But a pillow and maybe a decor item, vase, etc. would work. Just don't get too much of a contrasting color or it will lose it's unexpected look and be just a 3rd color, equal to the others in the room.

Look at the 2nd picture Janice posted, how they've mixed disparate but complementary patterns and colors against a neutral background, it all works. You could go that direction, too. You have a good eye; you'll know if it works or not. I think a round table will be great in your room.

Sorry Janice, I mean removing the table all together and just placing this table on the right side of the sofa with the present lamp on it. It will have a smaller footprint.

Do you think the space will feel weird with nothing in the middle of the two seats?

    Similar to this:

[Contemporary Living Room design[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/contemporary-living-room-ideas-phbr1-bp~t_718~s_2103) by San Francisco Interior Designer Found Design

But then Im thinking If Im going to get a round table...should I even bother getting those side tables?

olychick, Thanks for clarifying! Do you think I need an additional color to the yellow/goldish color?

btw thanks for teaching me "kitty corner" I've never heard that term before. I had to look it up.

I will snap more updates soon!

Thank you for the quick replies. much appreciated!

ok so I moving things around, this seemed the most comfortable.

I got rid of my lamp, it was just to small for the area. I actually spoke with West Elm and they said they will give me a refund, which is awesome of them.

I also got rid of the side tables just to see how it will feel without them. I also added in an additional ivory pillow to pull in the ivory sheepskin pillows.

I'm really not liking my coffee table, lets seems funny to me. Any ones you recommend?

Updated pictures, let me know what you think:

Pillow look nice but I see an absence of lighting....could you put a floor lamp at the wall end behind the couch and put a smaller glass top table between the chairs and put a taller lamp on that. Your guests will have a place to put their coffee, etc on while visiting.

Thanks grandmaof3, exactly what I'm thinking.

I'm going to aim for 3 things this summer.

Floor lamp, Taller Lamp and coffee tables.

Then in the summer place curtains.

What do you guys think of this lamp?
