Scaredy Dog jumping Pole.

Thank you to everyone who helped me to figure out how to get toots to jump. I did as you suggested and placed out pole (broomstick) on the ground. Yesterday I left it out there with her all day when she was playing by herself, then I went out with her and tried to get her to walk over it...she refused until I started running and she found she could catch me by going over. I then just started jumping from one side to the other and she followed. As soon as she jumped I said "JUMP" and gave her lots of praise and a treat. She was doing so well that I couldn't resist and I put the pole up six inches (on flower pots...the lowest I had). I would jump and she would follow....until she knocked the broomstick down and got scared again...it did not fall on her. So we then put the broom back on the floor and continued to ignore it for the rest of the day. Today we started again with the broom on the ground, once she got comfy we moved it up on the flowerpots. Today though I had to throw the treat over and grab it before she ran around...she finally figured out if she jumped she got the treat before I did....after she did that for a few times is when we moved the broom up. We continued with the treats until I ran out....then I decided if she would do it without treats ...AND SHE DID....I stood on one side and called her...she jumped over and got tons and tons of praise....hubby saw how much fun we were having so he joined in...he stood on one side and would call her over...she would jump and we would praise....then I would call her back to my side and she would jump and we would praise. WE did that for awhile until she got tired and decided she just wanted her butt rubbed. WE have not used the leash yet, but today I did leave her harness on. We went out back to train/play right after her walk.
