Question on 8-inch and 4-inch Drilled Sink

Hi,

We are replacing the sink in our very small powder room with a pedestal style where the lav measures 24" x 19". Can someone provide some guidance on whether to go with 4-inch or 8-inch centers on the sink drilling?

Does the 8" refer to the distance between each drilled hole (i.e. the hot tap to the spout is 8" and then another 8" to the cold tap) or is that the measurement between the water taps? Would 8" look out of place in such a small sink and bathroom?

4" is the distance between the hot and cold valves
it is a "center" measurment..which means that it is 4"
center of hole to center of hole
and 8" centers..means 8" c x c [center x center]
and...there is usually a hole in the middle [center]
for the spout to come thru
so...if you buy a sink..and it says the holes are 8" centers
then the faucet you buy,has to be 8" center also

there are sinks that only have 1 hole
these are used with a faucet that is a single mount

So Frodo, the number (be it 4" or 8") is the distance between hot and cold valves? If that is the case, then the distance from each water valve to the center of the spout hole will be half that number, right?
