Help! EXTREMELY vocal cat.

Background story:

Last summer I lived in an apartment with some friends and we adopted 3 kittens. As they grew, one would meow and then the other 2 would in reply. I'm thinking it was for security reason so they knew the others were there.

Since then I've moved back home for the time being and brought my cat, Hank, home with me. My roommates nicknamed him Moop seeing as when he meows, its more like a moop sound than anything.

He's over the trauma of changing homes and being brought around older cats and a little dog; but he "moops" almost constantly. My family is completely annoyed by it and the only one he will listen to, is me. I'm thinking that he's trying to call out to his sister and brother like he used to, or possibly trying to get the attention of the other cats to play with.

Is there anyway to stop his mooping or atleast calm him down?? I'm afraid that my family is going to get sick of it and make me get rid of my baby Hank. :( And around here there is nowhere to take him, everywhere makes you pay $150 to take your animal.
