Sadly this happens more often than needs be. The owners never took their dogs needs or its breed into consideration the end result is that the dog goes insane and lashes out....tragedy usually ensues.

how sad, these people need stricter sanctions to stop others from doing this.

This is just horrible, how can anyone justify keeping an animal in what is basically solitary confinement? Why would anyone get a pet if they are not going to take proper care of it? Stupid, stupid, stupid.

We have / had a similar situation except the people kept the dog outside chained up in an unfenced in yard. Unfortunately , that yard was on my son's way home from the school bus. He felt sorry for it so one day when he was in 4th grade he went up in the yard (me and his Dad were at work) , to give the dog a pet and a little attention. He was eating and Justin did not know enough about dogs to not touch him and got his hand bit. The owner of the dog called me at work and said she "got the bleeding stopped but she thought he needed stitches" and "oh and don't worry he has all his shots". I was petrified. She had small children of her own so she must have known what a call like that would do to a Mother. She seemed to only care to cover her butt. My husband and I got my son to the Dr. and got his hand stitched up and the Dr. recommended we file a police report- when the officer came back from their house after his report he informed us that the dog had had NO SHOTS whatsoever. He was a full grown dog over a year old. Not only that they informed him that the dog was part wolf. They received a fine and was allowed to keep the dog quarantined in their garage to make sure he didn't have rabies. After the quarantine he was RIGHT back out there waiting for his next victim. I alerted all of the kids in the neighborhood to not approach him and to my knowledge he never bit another kid but, I to this day think how irresponsible for them to put him right back out there after he bit someone? I have never spoken to them again , they still live there, own the same dog , although they keep him inside most of the time since I heard he had a bout with cancer a few years ago- I see him out there occasionally but rarely these days. Poor dog- one of the neighbor kids told me they told him that the dog bit because he was abused as a puppy - HELLO - he was being abused his whole life by being chained in the hot sun day in and day out. I have NEVER seen them playing with him or walking him in all these years. Hindsight, we should have sued them but we are just not suing sort of people. They never offered to pay medical bills or anything. I would be devastated if one of my dogs bit someone , let alone a child. People just never cease to amaze me-

Besides considering breeds and their innate behaviors, I think and dog tied up or left outside without human contact will be unsocialized and dangerous. Husky or Golden retriever. Dogs need their families to mentally develop.

I agree, as for the nut balls who did this, they should be banned from having pets,a dog is a mans best friend, but having never owned one I say a cats a mans best friend..
