PB to PEX fitting

Hi. I've got a 20 foot camping trailer, circa mid 1980's, that has PB plumbing. Its the grey stuff with plastic fittings and cinch-rings. I need to do a little work in the kitchen area. I bought a PB to PEX fitting (1/2" to 1/2"). Its brass and came with two crimp rings, one copper colored, and one black colored. Other than the colors they look identical and appear to be the same size.

So....A couple questions...: 1) which crimp ring is for the PB side of the fitting? and 2) can I use my pex crimper for the PB side?

Thanks!

All the pex rings I've seen are black (copper under the black color). The PB crimpers that I've seen actually pinch the ring and leave a "tab" when properly cimped. The PEX crushes the ring and is round when done. So, I don't think you can use the same tool on both.
Does the fitting have more barbs on one side than the other...pex 3 barbs and PB 4 barbs?

Thanks for the response. Yes, the PB side has more barbs than the PEX side. I found info about the fitting on the net, and I provided a link to it (I hope it works). Take a look and tell me what you think. I know what your talking about with the PB cinch rings, but this fitting includes a ring for the PB side that is exactly like a PEX crimp ring. I'm assuming I can use the PEX tool, but I thought I'd run it by the informative people here first.

Here is a link that might be useful: fitting details

As a brief follow-up I did call the company and ask if the PEX tool could/should be used on the PB side of the fitting. The response was: "I think so" - NICE UH? What do you guys think?

It's worth a try, but if you could use a Pex ring with the Pex tool on the PB side it might be better. To tell you the truth I don't know what the difference is between the 2 tupes of rings. I know that the Pex are copper and the PB can be either copper or aluminum. I'm guessing that they are not as thick as the Pex,but I haven't compared them.

SharkBite connectors work great with PB. They're not officially listed for it, I assume because Cash Acme doesn't want the potential liability of PB piping on them, but I've heard lots of good things and NO bad things about using them with PB.
