Do you have any pics of your linen white paint you could post? I'm thinking about trying this for my living room. From what I've read about it and seen online, it has sort of a yellow cast to it? So any paint that is more pure white (or grayed white) should make it stand out more?

I have a saved inspiration picture from House & Garden 2004. A Hamptons Retreat for James and Whitney Farichild, vice presidents of design at Ralph Lauren. They used Benjamin Moore's Linen White on the walls and Decorator's White on the trim through out the house. They really look beautiful together. Linen White has a yellow cast as Jenny mentioned.

Kay - any chance you could post your photo?? I'd love to see it. I loved House and Garden - our library subscribes to it, but I've heard they are not making H&G anymore.

I used SW Extra White in Gloss on my trims and doors and in my home office, BM Linen White on the walls in the pearl finish. I see no shine on the walls and the wall color looks wonderful against the very white trim. I also painted the ceiling a flat white and my office is no longer depressing but very neutral and easy to work in.

Sorry Jenny, my scanner broke and I haven't replaced it yet. I looked online without success. I meant to type June 2004, not sure a library would go back that far? Here is a brief overview: Barbados was one of the inspirations for the tropical mahogany and white scheme. The shots of color come from groupings of blue-and-white china. A Georgian house with a country kitchen of white cabinets and white marble counters. The floors are ebony stained.

I've heard the same about H&G, and that is to bad.

But I don't think that will actually help you very much since the trim isn't painted yet - it still looks very blah. (Not to mention the distracting blue stripes)

My in-laws have linen white throughout their house and it looks gorgeous and creamy with a hint of yellow against their trim which is a brighter white - but they don't know what color the trim is.

Just use white for the trim. There is enough of a contrast with the BM linen white so that you will notice it. This gives a very clean look. I actually prefer Behr's ultra pure white to the Benjamin Moore white because I think that the BM white has a little bit more of a blue cast to it, but I've used both whites and they both look great with linen white. Linen white by BM is great! It gives a little color but not too much. It is yellowish without being yellow. It gives a warm and inviting look to brighten any room.

That's what I was thinking too. I love the Linen White but don't want it to look too yellow. I plan to pain trim and walls LW!

Can you also paint bookcases Linen White to match walls and trim? How will it look?

I know this thread is old, but LW is so timeless that I'm sure this thread is still often read. I first painted my trim, bookshelves and doors LW to match walls since I didn't want the walls to appear too yellow against a white trim. I hated it. It looked old and dingy. I repainted the trim, bookshelves and doors Simply White and it looks so much more fresh and modern. It's a beautiful combination. My friend painted LW walls with F&B All White trim (even brighter than SW) and it is also beautiful.
