Pool Water Problems

We have a new salt 40,000 gallon indoor pool. Water source is 500 ppm Calcium and total akalinity 350. We have added 14 gallons of acid to bring ph to 7.4 but total akalinity is 400. The salt generator has not been activated yet. I have put several gallons of acid with circulating pump off to see if it starts the chemical reaction to break apart the 400 alkalinity but seems to have little effect. Ph gradually seems to increase after the acid inititialy lowers the PH.

Is the super high alkalinity acceptable if we have an automatic acid feeder to keep Ph at 7.4? Will putting an air compressor operated aeration of the pool water break down the alkalinity? Suggestions on how many CFM and how long to run compressor?

I am thinking of buying a stenner acid pump since we have a polaris ORP that could control it. Pros/Cons?

Can one pump feed acid to the spa (it has ORP as well) as well? I am guessing it will need a seperate pump and 15 gallon tank?

Thanks,

Alex
