JC Penney Furniture - good quality/service?

Has anyone ever purchased bedroom furniture from JC Penney? I'd love your feedback on quality & service.

Whenever I am interested in ordering something from a company, I always read the reviews section under each product.

I know it's not a bedroom set, but we bought a sectional from JCPenny about 5 years ago and it's HORRIBLE! Made by Bauhaus (a divison of Lazy Boy) it took weeks (5-6) to get and within 2 mos it was falling apart. Took several more weeks to get a replacement and this one isn't any better. I'll be replacing it as soon as it's affordable to do so. I'll never buy from a department store again. Why buy from them when there are stores that actually specialize in furniture?

I bought an entry table (Collin Table) from JCPenny.com on clearance. It is decent quality, great look, and great service. It came missing a few pieces (the legs and feet!) but the customer service was excellent and the replacement parts came quickly with no hassle. The table gets very light use, so I can't speak for durability, but you can return items to the store even if you buy online, which is convenient.

No one guesses that my bed is from JC Penny. I had my doubts, but people in this forum assured me it'd be a good purchase.

The finish isn't as durable as a high quality piece, but I've been very happy.

I purchased my previous sofa directly from a Penney's store that was going out of business. I think it was a Broyhill and it was a great couch and never had a problem with it. It was a great deal marked down from $1200 to $325- who can say no to that?

The sofa prior to that was purchased at a furniture store and was a piece of junk- that I paid good money for, too. I had to get a second set after delivery because of damages to both pieces. I kept the set for about 6months until it fell apart.

I bought a bed from Penneys and have no problems with the quality. Bought it on line and paid shipping. It only included being brought into the house so we had to put it together.

I purchased 2 cast aluminum lounge chairs from JCP, on clearance, last summer. One arrived with a broken corner off the back. Since my husband is a welder he was able to weld it back together. JCP gave us a 10% discount for keeping it. It's not the same quality as the cast aluminum I got online from the patio & grill store, but I paid 66% less with JCP.

I have a leather sofa and a dining set from JCP. I am very pleased w/ both items- they have held up well w/ two rambunctious boys and a pet-friendly home.

I would not have even considered either of them had they not been on a super clearance, but for what I paid I am very very happy.

The sofa came w/ a scrape mark on the back and customer service quickly offered 10% to appease us. I would rate customer service as excellent.

    Good luck!

I am waiting on several room's worth of furniture to arrive from my JC Penney order, so I can't attest to its quality just yet. But I can say that the service I received in-store was impeccable. Nancy has followed up with me after the order and send receipts all organized and stapled to print outs of the different sets. If the quality of the furniture was as good as our service, I'll be a happy camper.

No one's mentioned this yet, but in my experience JCP's return policy is so fabulous I'm willing to take a flyer on their stuff, b/c they take things back whenever, courteously, no questions asked, for a full refund. (NB: nothing I've ever returned has been broken, used, etc. Just didn't work in the room where I'd hoped to use it.)
