Looking for some guidance. Recently bought a cabin in So. Cal mountains. It has a very large, nice cedar deck in front and back that needs maintenance. Received quotes from three contractors and having difficulty sorting through the recommendations.

One said the it looked like the deck had previously been stained with a water-based stain based on the peeling. He recommended pressure washing and staining with FLOOD, CWF UV product. We need the siding done too and he said he would mask and do the siding with an oil-based product.

Guy two said he wanted to use Cabot SPF (one heavy and one light coat). But in researching Cabot it looks like it has a problem with peeling?

Finally, the third guy recommended something called "super deck". They all say they will power wash as prep (though the Cabot SPF guy said he would also acid wash.

Would sure appreciate any guidance on with regard to the prep process and any recommendations with regard to the products being suggested.
