We are just starting our kitchen reno plans & I thought I would post to get some feedback on the layout. I've been a long time lurker (and occasional poster) and have learned a ton on GW!

We are basically a two person household (my stepsons are out of college & so are home only occasionally). My husband does most of the cooking. I mainly bake. I like the layout of our current kitchen - it's mainly just unattractive and showing its age.

The things I currently dislike:

1- Fridge right across from the island - there isn't enough room if someone happens to be sitting there. The designer shifted the fridge down the same wall
2- The double bowl sink - that will be going. Either an undermount single bowl or a farmhouse
3- Countertop micro - we'll be putting a drawer micro in the island

The soffits are staying (they have lots of pipes in them), dishwasher, oven, window, doors, walls are all staying where they are. We don't really sit at the island, but my nieces and stepsons do occasionally. There is a 4-6 person table in the kitchen that we use. We also have a room that should be a dining room, but we don't use it that way.

We'll be doing white shaker inset custom cabinets. Some features:

- All drawers except for one set of pullout drawers next to fridge
- There will be a charging station in the drawer next to the fridge
- Pullout to the right of the oven will store cookie sheets
- The drawers next to that will be corner stacked drawers - might waste some space, but it will be useful for us for dishtowels, pot holders, saran wrap, etc
- The upper above that will be a corner cabinet (not the angled kind) and have a folding door - kind of like what you might see on a lazy susan bottom cabinet

Counters might be brushed black granite of some kind or maybe wood (need to think about that since I love the look, but the next owner might not - we plan to stay here, but sometimes jobs don't go along with our life plans!). Island will be a stained wood counter. We plan to do LED under cab lighting, recessed lighting elsewhere and maybe pendants over the island. Flooring will be vinyl - I know some hate it, but I really like vinyl!

Anything I have forgotten? Anything I should consider changing?
