Jennifer, I have a Brother sewing/emb machine, and at that time I think they were the same company, so maybe if there is a Brother dealer in your area they could help you out. Are you getting a manual with it? The manual for my machine is 8-1/2 x 11 and about 200 pages long! But it has lots of great information.

Do you have any specific questions? Maybe one of us who has an embroidery machine can answer them.

Having never used, nor really seen, an embroidery machine I can't even fathom the questions in regards to how this one functions...yet. I assume I'll get a manual, she's an organized type of gal, but I don't know for sure.

I'm more intersted in the details like how many designs come with it, what size hoops, how many alphabets, % increase/decrease options, thread break sensors, etc. Those sorts of things.

I really have no idea what this machine will do. The only thing I know is that she used this machine very well, very long and then upgraded to a one head industrial machine (for business purposes, really). To be honest, I was already looking into newer model machines in the $500 range (DH can't see spending more than that)...but I'd asked her about this months ago and she finally came up with a figure. Figured this would be a cheap way to get my feet wet anyway.

I will search on Brother dealers...the only Babylock dealers are 45-60 miles away, which isn't terrible, but there might be a Brother one closer. Thanks

You're going to love it! Mine is Brother's mid-level sewing & embroidery machine, and it came with a whole bunch of patterns and 4 or 5 alphabets programmed in it. Plus you can edit and combine designs, and save the new version if you want. It also has a slot for a little card so you can download designs from your computer. The Palette software should do that for you, as well as digitizing. There are a zillion free designs on the internet, and about another zillion for sale.

You may want to check out the Martha Pullen ME forum. The members are very experienced and happy to answer questions or offer advice, plus they're really good at tracking down all those freebies!

When you get it, tell us what kind of card slot you have - there are free softwares out there to convert from one format to another - useful for all the free designs out there. (If your software doesn't do that).

You will need to get Brother PED Basic..software with a card writer. You will be able to send designs from your computer to the card in the card writer and take to your machine, The machine uses ,pes format. You can buy the PED Basic pkg from ebay, Walmart on line, Amazon, Allbrands--many locations. Look for your best buy...it normally sells for around $100 new. Does your machine have a slot for floppy disk? If so, you can do transfers with a floppy drive and diskettes, tho diskettes are getting hard to find. Have you looked for the manual at the Babylock site? There are sites for D/L manuals for free. Have fun!

Hi everyone, I am reading through these comments from a Google search on Babylock Espree Em1. Boy oh boy, am I way behind. I wish I would of known this machine was so outdated before I purchased it last evening on ebay with machine only, no cards, hoops nothing. I am really having a hard time finding the accessories needed to use this embroidery machine. Can anyone help me out?
