new windows?

First let me say we are not fans of the new DARK trend in wood tones. Maybe when you are 50+, having lived through DARK the first time around you can't go back? A few years ago we replaced a sliding glass patio door for a french door. The door's wood is stained lighter than the original trim that remains. We prefer the lighter door and are happy with the look. Now we are ordering all new windows and are debating going with the same colored stain as on the door. I have wood valances that are stained the same as the new door color, our wood furniture is lighter tones. Will we be sorry? Will it look odd? Lighter stained windows with the original dark trim? I like the way the beautiful door pops but not so sure if the windows will do the same, and do I want them too? Will it end up pushing us to replace all the dark stained trim/doors in the house? That could take a few years and what will my house look like in the mean time?
