Oh WOW!!!! What a great idea for all those orphan blocks!!! Maybe SunBonnet Sue running along the clothes line, although I was thinking of a different pattern for her. lololol

That's a really clever idea for a quilt. And you're right, Marsha. I'd have to plan it too. I've never made a practice block, although once in a while, especially if strip piecing, I do end up with an extra block or two.

Marsha, I did notice this seem to be a planned quilt since the colors all coordinated so nicely. I do think it would be great scappy in a very young child's room. While changing diapers, you can ask about shapes and colors and items in the prints. It is amazing how very young the children can learn these things. You could also make up quick stories to go with the blocks, reminiscent of "The Counterpane Fairy", one of my favorite children's books.

My grandmother used SBS often, so I have very fond memories there. I even have her cardboard pattern. I hate to think what you have in mind for her, Helen, but with my sick sense of humor I would probably get a big kick out of it.
