flooding from..???

Last nite we had quite a thunderstorm. My condo is an end unit (east). In the past, when the old roof was on, I had water in my kitchen- it seemed like it came down between the exterior wall and the interior wall- but don't know if it started at the roof or the exterior siding. We had the roof replaced 2 years ago, and the exterior siding was done about 6 weeks ago... a company called Guaranteed Builders based in Houston did the work. It was/is a nightmare- shoddy work, used workers who didn't have green cards and couldn't speak English, so couldn't measure with a tape... Anyway- I think the leak has been there even after the new roof was put on.

Do any of you have any ideas where it could be coming from? I am the first floor condo- the second floor condo didn't leak. The water comes in through my kitchen light and has actually put a crack in the ceiling where water came through. Guaranteed Builders has done a horrid job, and the HOA seems to be useless, as well as the Wildwood Management Company. I am at a loss, and don't know where to get something done. I am insured with AARP-Hartford, and they said they can't MAKE the HOA/builder correct the place where it is leaking from- even if it can be located.

Texas is the lowest as far as scammers/poor quality than anywhere I have ever lived.

While it is still wet, get someone out there to look at it.

A small amount of water could be getting in just about anywhere. If it is a river, it is probably coming in from the roof. There is no use waiting for someone on the internet to guess about it though, get a pro out to look asap.

I would call your local Planning department and inquire if a permit was applied for for the roof and siding work.
With regards to the siding. If they removed the siding and the water resistant membrane in the process of the water intrusion investigation, a permit is generally required prior to reaffirming the water resistant membrane before reinstalling the siding.
If a permit was not issued, than ask what the process is to pursue this further because the water intrusion still exists, is it with the building dept. or code enforcement.

The condo management association sent out the 'maintainance/garbage picker upper' of all people. He insisted that it had to be from a pipe upstairs...but it only leaks when it rain...duh.I took him to the condo upstairs where there wasn't a drop of water from her pipes. Anyway, the roofing company, Guaranteed Builder, Inc from Houston is the same company who put up the siding this summer and I had many question/complaints about the poor quality job they did. I can't believe they can get by with the stuff they did-sigh. Anyway, they haven't even been here yet to look. I will do as you suggest, though....now, on to my other post about condo/sidewalk problem...

"I took him to the condo upstairs where there wasn't a drop of water from her pipes."
His assumptions may not be all that far fetched.
While borings are supposed to be tight fitting, they may be loose enough to allow a minor stream of water to follow down to a point where the pipe abuts the side of a bored framing member or changes direction.

The method I use is to open the appropriate small sections of walls and/or ceilings and do a water flood test, and follow the water back.
