Where can I find a refurbished machine?

Hi:

I don't sew and need help in finding a refurbished machine. I want to buy it for a friend for her birthday. I'd like to buy one of those that emroderies and makes emblems, that sort of thing. Forgive me, I don't even know what they are called. I know I can't afford a brand new one for her, but would love to find one used or refurbished. Can you tell me where I should be searching for such a machine? Thanks for your help.

You could check your local sewing machine store. They would sell refurbished machines but embroidery machines are expensive. Colleen

Try Allbrands.com or Ken's Sewing Center. I've heard good things about them.

Just my opinion but maybe your friend has one she has been wanting. A sewing machine is a personal thing. Maybe you could go with her and look for one she would like. It could still be a surprise for her. I know I wouldnt like to pick out a sewing machine for someone else.

So that you know, a refurbished machine can start at $400 up. I agree with mirren. You might want to ask your friend what machines she has been looking at and wants and contribute to the purchase or buy supplies for the machine.
