Pattern or solid color panel drapery?

I am thinking of burgandy as the color for the panels in the dining room, unless someone else has a different color suggestion. Should I do solid panels or something with a pattern or stripe? Here is a closeup of the rug and the dining room again. Thanks

the beige showing in the rug is actually of a golden tone irl

If you don't want a high contrast in the burgandy, you could use a pale color like the wall or the light color in the rug, and add some type of banding in the burgandy. There are some nice flat gimp trims or more like ribbon trims available. We did some drapes recently for a dining room with a black band across the sides and bottom. The window was a bay type, or something similar to yours. I can't find a finished room picture, but I'll direct you to a blog post about adding banding. It shows one of the panels I'm talking about.

I think a solid burgundy would look beautiful Roseabby. Either that or something that "reads" as a solid from a distance.

Oops got distracted and hit send before I finished. Kisses from my hubby can do that. :^D
I meant to say what a pretty home you have.

Roseabbey, I think a pattern would look nice. Maybe you can find something in red and gold to coordinate with the rug. Or maybe a stripe?
Country Curtains has a damask called Woodrose that is red and gold. It is more of a dusty rose than a strong burgundy though, so you'd have to order a fabric swatch from them (or visit a store) to see if it will go with your rug. They also have stripes and plaids in similar colours. If you want a traditional look they have a good selection.
And their Hatfield print is more muted but is a green, gold and red print on a beige background that would pick up most of the colours in your rug.

    I vote for solid red.

Sally, the banding looks interesting, although I do like contrast. I feel that area of the room is too light visually compared to the rest of the room where the furniture is, so I am looking I think to a deep color instead of a light one for the drapes.

Donald, thanks for the tip, I will take a look at their website.

justgotabme, thank you for the compliment. I agree with you I love the drapes caminnc posted!

caminnc, where did you see those drapes! Love the fabric and the color seems to match bang on the color in the rug...love it, love it. ...

It does seem to be the perfect match. I have heard great things about this company but I have never ordered from them. That might change very soon though. At any rate you can't beat the prices. You can order swatches for $1.99. I think the red would be so pretty with your art work as well as your rug. Show us what you do. You have a very pretty home!!!

I think your windows are bright and welcoming! A luxurious fabric like silk would provide visual weight in that area. How high are your ceilings? The "Silk Taffeta Pavilion Stripe Drapery" or "Silk Taffeta Multistripe Drapery" from Restoratin Hardware in sangria might look pretty; they come in a couple of different widths/lengths.

caminnc, I couldnt find the drapes you pictured. The closest I saw was chili pepper color which is too red. Can you tell me which fabric/color you posted. Thanks so much.

kiko, I am actually planning a trip to Toronto where there is a Restoration Hardware sometime next month so I hope to checkout their drapery. My ceilings are 10feet at the top of the tray but 9 feet at the window.
