stuffing wadded up -- HELP!

Bought a beautiful queen comforter at a yard sale for $20. It was all I could do to fit it in my washing machine. No tag w/ cleaning instructions attached; probably said, Dry Clean Only, but I wouldn't have done that anyway.

I was careful about drying it, using a gentle setting for just 30 minutes, then hanging it outside.

When I put it on the bed, one corner obviously had the stuffing matted together. It's a very thick bed cover, white, with embroidered flowers and crocheted borders here and there.

It's not reversible. The underside is sewn similar to the way a quilt might be. Should I take some stitching out near the wadded-up part and try to straighten or replace the stuffing there?
