Wow! Nice stand too! Did you bling up the stand yourself? I'd go darker yet with that grout! I'm a black gal!lol! But it sure matches the stand perfectly the way it is!!!

Thanks Jane. I get the 'stands' at the thrift store - they are candle holders of sorts. Not my bling on them, but they do make nice BB stands. The grout is actually a bit darker than in the above photo. Let's try another done in natural light. Might show it better.

They are one of my favourites to mosaic too StJohnsGypsy. I think my DM knows that too because I have 8 more staring at me that she bought at a TS, and she says she has 4 more at her place. And we don't even have bowling alleys where you can play with those big balls. They all come to Canada from 'the States' as we say. :O)

It might have been a PITA to do, but it's not hard to look at! Did you paint the ball or treat it in some other way before you added the glass? Some of the glass looks clear but it's obviously not on a black background.

Tiffy,beautiful BB...you did a great job on your design and cutting and I love the new color grout!!I just grouted something and made the wrong choice but I'm afraid to paint it..I don't have the gut's I'm afraid I can't clean it off right..

CRACK - go ahead and paint. Only trouble I've had in getting the paint off was when I painted w/gold glitter and let it dry too long. ANY paint comes right off the glass and stays on the grout. The gold glitter was tougher but it came off. -

I don't give it a chance to completely dry on the pieces. I quickly brush 1/3 of the ball, then wipe the pieces. You might like to try diluting it like I did. In that way, the grout absorbs more of it, but the colour isn't too pronounced so if you want to make it darker you can go at it again.

I always prepare the balls before starting. I plug the holes partly with aluminum foil and then the rest of the way with wood putty. After the putty has dried, I sandpaper the whole ball, clean thoroughly, and then spray paint with Krylon for plastics in white. In this case, it provided depth to the pieces.
