Help! Advice needed for Simonton Stormbreaker Plus problem

I'm so upset after but another day of telephoning people and being placated while nothing happens, that I just hope I can write this legibly. But I really need advice to see what else I might be able to do.

Last April, I contacted Simonton and PGT with regard to their impact resistant windows. I live in Hawaii, and this was a really important issue to me. PGT blew me off, but Simonton had me get in touch with one of their distributors in Texas to place my order. I had to work with someone in Texas, because Simonton doesn't distribute their impact resistant windows any further west than Texas.

Everything seemed to go fine. My contractor placed the actual order in September, with the same individual (at Lansing Building Products in Dallas) I had spoken with previously. That was the end of everything going smoothly.

First, the windows were held up at Lansing/Dallas because they didn't have the wood for crating them them. When the windows finally arrived in January, my contractor opened up the container and immediately bought a disposable camera. All the windows in the front had piled on top of each other, broken, and with absolutely no sign that they had even been crated in wood to begin with.

Since early January my contractor has been going back and forth with Lansing about replacing the windows. It also turns out the specs called for the triples to be mulled together, and they weren't, and that the pieces necessary for mulling them were not provided. Also screens were broken.

In the past two months, all that has happened is that somebody filed an insurance report with the freight forwarder in Honolulu. They're still sitting on it. Simonton says they have nothing to do with it, and won't back up their distributor. I've dealt with Lansing's corporate offices in Virginia, and keep getting referred to different individuals, who stop taking my phone calls.

And meanwhile, we're now at the place where we need the windows NOW in order to finish drying in the house.

If anyone has any suggestions, I'd really appreciate it. I can't figure out how to get the window pix pasted in, they came as .tiff files and I can't get them to paste in here. They're pretty bad, though, there's just no sign that the windows in the front of the container were wrapped in anything other than cardboard and bubblewrap!

Thanks for any and all suggestions!

Summer
