We are looking for ideas on our remodel. The budget won't allow a full custom. However, we would like a unique backsplash that noone else has. I feel so uninspired by most of the stuff I see.

I was thinking about seeing if Penta ( http://www.pentalonline.com/glass2/) would help me make a backsplash with the stone shown that would be backlit and illuminated.
The kitchen will likely transitional / slightly modern... maybe shaker doors, white cabinets, blue eyes (gray) granite, maybe a form of white subway tiles (though they are becoming too popular), white appliances.

Thoughts on the backsplash?

How about thoughts on a tile floor?
