Need Help Installing a light

Hello,

I just moved into a brand new home. The builder placed the light in the breakfast room in the center of the room instead of where the table would have to be due to traffic flow into and out of the room. To "fix" the problem we are adding another light, so they look centered over the table.

Here's my question. The light is on a 15 amp breaker and is connected to only one switch. I have installed a braced box in the location I want the light. I am going to "pig tail" off the original light and run a jumper to the new light. The original light was run with 14-2 wire. Can I use a piece of 12-2 wire for the jumper, since it's all that I have laying around? The jumper will only be about 4' long. Thanks.
