Help adding 2 ceiling lights

I am insulating one stall of my garage and want to add 2 more simple light fixtures. I ran 2, 9 foot pieces of wiring from the existing light (#1) in each direction, to #2 & #3. Is that correct, and if so, how should they now be wired? I am wondering if I should have just run one 9 foot piece to say #2 and then a 18 foot piece over to #3. Any help would be appreciate.
