im running wire frome main box in house to sub panel in garage 100 amp service

the wire will be run through conduet under ground 30 ft

i would like to stop the conduet at basment wall and just run wire to main box on first floor "can't get conduet to box not enough room".can i do this?

could you tell me what type of wire i should use and size

i was thinking #3 and running 4 wires but don't know what typ to run with not being in conduet in basment
