AEG Electrolux stove wiring problem

We just bought a new electrolux stove that has gas burners and an electric convection oven. It is I think a new model here in Canada. SIG90S

Here is my problem. The wiring instructions indicate 3 wires. Green=ground black=neutral red=live. I presumed that the oven is 220 but when I read "black=nutral" it yells 110. Anyone have any experience with these units. I want to fire this puppy up without blowing it up. Any help would be great.

ps....The instructions suck and do not even indicate it is 220 and AEG in Toronto did not get back to me when I asked for assistance.

Is there a name plate on the stove?
It should indicate the volatge and current requirements.

The name plate on a range is inside the lower drawer, or on the edge of the oven front just inside the door.

    Yup its 220...Thanks a ton

Electrolux is a Swedish company, IIRC. Like most European countries, they have 230v 50Hz electricity (no 120v). One side of their 230 is indeed neutral and the other hot. Maybe the instructions lost something in the translation ...

We bought a similar unit (prior to the Electrolux alliance). The door label shows: 230V ... 240V AC 60hz with a rating of 3.0 ... 3.3 kW. The unit came with a sheilded BX cable (looks like 12 gauge); red was wired to live, black wired to neutral and green wired to ground.
Taking this cable to a junction box, does this mean that the red will be attached to both the red and black of the 10/3 coming from the panel? Is 10/3 adequate or is an 8/3 preferable? Lastly, at 3.3 kW my calculations suggest that a 20 amp double pole breaker would suffice. (Seems to be the case with an earlier posting referring to the Miele ovens also.

NO!!! If you do that you will create a dead short!! Re read the above posts carefully, all the info is there on how to hook it up correctly. If you are not sure, please call in a qualified person!

Your post is unclear as to which colors are found where. What colors are the wires in the armored cable from the range? What colors are the wires in the box?

At 240 volts, a 20 amp circuit should suffice for this appliance unless the manufacturer's instructions specify a different one. Number 10 copper is more than enough for 20 amps.

Talked to a good technical help service representing AEG-Electrolux (and other European companies) in Canada (Europarts; toll free 1 800 678 8352) who confirmed a few things. All AEG units are shipped with a sheilded 2 wire cable - 12 gauge meant for 220 service and a 20 amp breaker (although this is not shown presently in their instructions brochure).
For those in Ontario, my electrician confirms that based on this the unit hookup meets rule 4-034 of the code. (i.e. The white is then labeled black/live)

    Hi,

I just bought an EAG Electrolux electrical stove range (Model: SIC90S; 230v-60hz single phase; motor:35W; Total absorbed power 12.35kw)

The stove came with a wire with no plug on the end. The sales person told us to go and buy a normal Stove power cord, which i did (8 gauge, 40 amps; 250 volts).

Inside the stove, the wire that came with the stove had the following connected red wire to brown connector, black wire to blue connector and green wire to yellow and green connector. The cable I bought has 4 wires: red, black, white and a bare coper wire. Do I connect the red wire to the red connector (live), black wire to the blue connector (neutral), white wire to the yellow green connector (ground) and the coper wire to the metal frame of the appliance? Thanks for your help. I didn't know that after paying so much for these things, they wouldn't even come with the proper connection...
