This is so funny. I'm also deciding between these colors for my Kitchen/Family room. I'm considering Rich Cream as well. I just painted my upstairs hall MT and LOVE it. It looks very gray in that light. It looks a little more tan in my kitchen. I can't wait to see what others post.

kew2006 - thanks for the info. What kind of light does your upstairs hall and kitchen get? The samples I have of MT also look gray (which I do not think I want). My family room gets a LOT of sunlight. I want a light/creamy tan if that makes sense. The pictures I've seen here of MT do not look gray at all. They look like what I want, but the samples are worrying me. On the other hand, I'm worried that the Gentle Cream will be too boring.

Well, it is an interesting color. Part of my upstairs hall gets more light and that area looks more gray. The side that is in low light looks more tan. It is a very pale color. I have linen white trim so the contrast isn't as stark either which may make it look more pale, but I love the combination! Also, I was thinking that Gentle Cream was lighter than MT? I don't have a sample of that one I just have been looking at pics online. I think that if you have lots of sun, both colors may look washed out. That is a concern of mine in my kitchen especially because I have cherry cabs and a goldish granite (which I don't like). That's why I'm also thinking about Rich Cream which is more yellow. If you really want a tan I think the next color from MT, bleeker beige may be nice or I just used Wheeling Neutral and that is a nice color too. Or, hush, another PB color may work. Also, you can google "BM paint name pic" and you'll get pictures of that color although some aren't accurate. Good luck!

Like you have been exploring the sands, beiges and creams for the kitchen. Like jill found MT to be too gray. Sampled over many weeks -- Frappe (tendency to sort of an orangy color in some lights) Lighthouse Landing, Barely Beige, Opaline, Joa's White, Archive (the last two are F&B), Stone House and many, many others. Have lately been coming round to two tried and true favorites that are much lighter -- Linen White and Navajo White.

Yes, Gentle Cream is significantly lighter than MT. I have been looking at pictures of really bright/sunny rooms that are painted a very light color and I'm liking that look. Very calm and soothing. Many of the other rooms near this room have color - green in kitchen, red in living room, gold in dining room. So, I wanted to go with something more neutral in this room. Trim will be painted BM Vanilla Ice Cream (a creamy white). Not too much contrast against the walls, but that is also what I am going for.

Thanks, sayde. I did look at Stone House. I had helped a friend pick that color. It looks great in her house. Not so great in my house. And, I've been through many, many other BM colors. Eliminated them all for one reason or another -- too pink, too green, too yellow, too something.

I don't have the luxury of saying it's just paint and I can redo it if I don't like it. This room is very large with catherdral ceilings and I cannot paint it myself. So, this is my one shot to get the color right, and it's very difficult.

I do understand that. People always say it's just paint, but painters in my area are expensive so I need to be able to live with whatever I choose for a while. I see what look you are going for now. I was thinking for my project that MT would be the safe choice because it seems to go with everything, but I do like the grayness. It certainly has that low contrast look and I too like that! I think Gentle Cream is nice too though and also as sayde suggested, linen white or Navajo White may work well for what you want. I guess the next step is to buy actual paint and put fairly large samples everywhere.

I realize this is an old thread but was wondering if you used the Gentle Cream? And if you did, how did it turn out. I'm thinking of using it as well. Thanks!

Has anyone used Gentle Cream in an older house? We have dark 9” baseboards with a slight red undertone and original floors in contrast a more yello/orangy stain. This is for our living room with a lot of windows, dining room (2 windows and French doors to a screened in porch so less lighting) that opens into it and an old porch that is now an office (one light source).

we did a 1’ vertical stripe throughout hallways on 2 levels with Gentle Cream & Mayonnaise. I would like to keep consistent in our main floor now.

Warm & creamy without being “too yellow” or “greenish”.

It is difficult to find old house cream colours with original trim on the net, almost always have painted out trim. Anyone’s thoughts or experiences with this?
