too small pantry?

We're planning a new kitchen, and I'm worried the pantry is going to be too small for our family of 5. Is a pantry cabinet that's 2 feet wide and 7 feet tall going to be enough?

Yes, I think it's enough. No matter what size it is, you will probably fill it up! If you don't buy in huge bulk, it should be fine.

If possible set aside an area in the basement for extra food items.

That is what I have is a shelving unit in the basement that I put multiples and seldom used items it comes in handy when we make a trip to Costco. If you make that pantry you have 2' deep and a pullout it will work much better.

i have the same question. We are planning a 3 ft wide cabinet pantry that will be 24 inches deep. We are also a family of 5. Did you end up going forward with the 24 inch wide pantry? How is it working out? Any tips on making a small pantry functional for a large family? thanks!
