I have Amerock.

Supposed to be BP874-G9 Anniversary Pull, 3-Inch Centers, 5-Inch Length, Sterling Nickel for tall pantry pullout but he got me something else.

I love them, the way they look and feel. The brass knobs I had before were substantial but the pulls were not at all (don't know what they were, probably not Amerock). These pulls are much better quality.

I ordered samples from Restoration Hardware, Amerock, and top knobs. I was expecting to be more impressed with the RH pulls, but DH and I both thought the Amerock felt more substantial and looked better.

I think you should search for something you like - perhaps on the internet - and then make your decision. I would first search for the brands he may discount. I wouldn't chose an alternative, unless I had to or unless I found something I absolutely loved elsewhere.

btw... my take on Restoration Hardware is that they are overpriced garbage. Not worth the cash they charge. I used to have a 200 year old vicotrian house and wanted to keep everything period. RH was good for finding the style I needed to match, but aside from looks, all there stuff is junk. (I bought cab hardware, door handles, plumbing fixtures, etc.)
I am sure other people may say different.. just my opinion

We have Schaub pulls (Cast Bronze Mountain Collection - antique iron finish) and have found them to be of excellent quality and finish. Our architect has spec'd them on several projects. They definietly are not junk. I appreciated that this particular line had very large appliance pulls for our dishwasher, refrigerator, compactor. etc.
I encourage you to look and order samples of whatever you are considering. Some of the things that look great on line look and feel cheap in person.

I used a number of different Schaub knobs and pulls throughout my kitchen, in polished nickel. They are very well-done, well-finished. I couldn't find any defects in any of them. They are plated over solid brass, AFAIK.

I have Amerock in my current kitchen and I think it's very good quality. Amerock does have one budget line (forget the name) that's pretty flimsy and I would avoid that one.

I think Allison is the Amerock budget line. That was included in my estimate. I think my one pull for the pantry is Allison, and it's OK, I don't think about it as being flimsy or substandard.

Clicked too soon. I meant to say, that one doesn't seem flimsy to me but that line might feel cheaper than the others. We did end up paying a little extra for what we got.

Jsweenc, I can't find a picture of your kitchen. What you used sounded like something I was thinking of trying: a combo of the cup pulls, knobs and some sort of tradtional pull that would go with the Amerock pulls.

Jsweenc, I just found another thread where you said your cabinet maker was going to use an Amerock pull that looks like Revitalize, one I was thinking of using with the their cup pull and knobs, so I guess that goes.

I have Amerock pulls. I love them, I think they are very nice quality. I purchased mine from coolknobsandpulls dot com. Extremely budget friendly.

If you are using Oxford CC, you must live nearby...I'm about 10 minutes away from there. They did a lot of the kitchen cabinets in our neighborhood (not mine) which was nice because as homeowners wanted to add something later, they could just go back and he could duplicate the style.

Check out the ck&p website, they carry both brands, and I like the layout of the site, you can see various sizes available for each style. Other sites drove me crazy.

That's it, Revitalize is the one pull I have. It is remote from the others except for one knob.

We are not quite finished yet but here are a few pictures:

We were going to get Amerock - I think the same bin pulls that jsweenc shows except in ORB. They are very solid and nice feeling. I have them on a small printer stand that my DH made for my office.

We went with Schaub pulls in the kitchen from their Traditions line. They have a wider bin pull and my husband liked that his hand fit better with the wider one. We used wide regular pull from the same line for doors. We have their ORB which is a solid matte brown. If you want the ORB look with bits of brass showing they have that but call it something else - we decided their ORB went better in our kitchen.

I wouldn't have any hesitation with the quality of either. I looked at Restoration Hardware pulls. Most of their bin pulls were stamped rather than cast. I didn't like the way the thinner edge of a stamped pull felt on my fingers. I think it is always worth while to get a sample of the actual pull you plan to use to see how it feels and looks in person. We even mounted some to one of our old drawers to try using them.

Beekeepers, I am 3 1/2 hours away but drove down to investigate the Oxford Cab. Shop and I am thrilled that we did. It's the best thing about the renovation. It looks like you have Amerock Revitalize as Jsweenc does. Did you mix them with anything else?

Jsweenc, thank you so much for the pictures. Your kitchen looks beautiful. I'd prefer to use more knobs for the look, but thought pulls like Revitalize or Mulholland would be practical as I am a messy cook.

Thank you for your input Cloud Swift and the explanation of the color, as I may not get around to getting a sample, as I should. The traditions line is what I had been looking at also. Did you use anything other than the bin pulls?

From all of the feedback here, it sounds like either Amerock or Schaub is a good choice. Now, it's just a matter of what to put with what and where. Another post!!

My old kitchen and linen cabinets had these installed (to help sell the house I assume):

"Traditions", in satin nickel. Not my style but a nice weight and build. I have bag full from my ex-kitchen, by the way, if anyone wants them. The satin finish is a tiny bit shiny where it's gotten wear, but that does indicate it's a THICK finish since the base material isn't showing.

I purchased 3 pulls from RH. I had to return them a few times because they were damaged. They're great about returns and special orders so even if it takes a few tries, it won't cost you more than a drive (they'll ship to your home for free if you special order, too).

We used the larger bin pulls on the drawers and the large regular pulls on the cabinet doors. The simple clean lines go nicely in our MCM house. We like clean lines but not ultra-modern and we wanted something that looked nice but was quiet since we have the granite (quartzite) colors and cherry wood grain going on.

Michaelangelo Bronze is their finish that looks more like other ORB. Our bin pulls are the 731. Both the 731 and the 730 are called 3" cup pulls but 3" is the screw hole spacing. The 731 is about 5" wide but has the screw holes higher on the arch of the pull so the spacing is still 3". Our regular pull is the 732. We didn't use any knobs.

I have Amerock Mulholland. Very happy with the weight and quality -- I was looking at some Restoration Harware ones as well, and I can't tell the difference in quality. I'd pay the extra for RH if you really like one of their styles, otherwise, go ahead and try Amerock or Schaub. By the way, Amerock is stocked in my local Lowe's but only in the smaller (96mm) size. So you can really see and feel what they look like, but the larger sizes feel heftier.

Forgot to add that I reused some 6 year old Amerock knobs in my new kitchen. The old knobs are in the "sterling" finish and were bought from Lowes (not high priced). They have held up very well over the past 6 years. I was looking at all new knobs and pulls, then realized I still like the style of the old knobs, and they still looked new, so reused them.

Thanks for the pics Beekeepers and Cloud Swift - very kind of you to post them. Both of your kitchens are beautiful. I love the crystal Beeskeeper. My reason for not using knobs near the cooking area is simply that I'm very messy. Cloud Swift, I am glad to see what you did, because in so many pics I've seen, I haven't seen the pulls on the uppers with the bin pulls below. Uusally, it's knobs. But it looks great. I'm wondering how the Amerock Revitalize would look on the upper with bin pulls below stylewise. Petepie, I like the mulholland too, though they come in two different style pulls.

Schaub is made in America; Amerock is not. We have Schaub throughout our home—look like new and they are 15+ years old. And the oil rubbed bronze is a beautiful, solid, rich color.
