Why paint?

I like the look of the blue paint ending on the wall rather than the ceilings' perimeter. But I don't understand why I like it! Hah
My house needs some re-painting and I would like to know what your intention was to end the blue paint on the wall. I think I want to flatter you by imitation, but want to understand. Did you ever see something pleasing but fail to understand it? Picasso anyone?
