So I went where my contractor sent me to look at granite, and wandered over near the loading dock, and saw this -

glass2.com

It's fused recycled glass, they told me it was made in Italy (though the website doesn't say so), and it's STUNNING. I have a couple of samples in my hand. I'm rethinking my whole kitchen (nothing's bought or built yet) because of this stuff.

The problem with having a glass counter, as I understand it, is that any accidental chip or crack will be an eyesore in its long clear expanse. It seems like this solves that problem - because of the pattern, you wouldn't really notice an isolated chip.

Has anyone heard of this? Seen it? Tried it?
