I have never purchased showroom samples before, but thats not to say that I wouldn't! If there are no dings or blemishes and you get the full warranty, why not? If you can get a great deal, I say go for it!!

We purchased our rangetop and hood as floor models from Home Expo (in 2005). Also purchased our steam oven from Reico (their designer did our kitchen). They were all just above 1/2 price. We have had no problems, and were able to get more "upscale" appliances for a lot less money.

As long as they have full warranty, sure! We got a dishwasher that way once. Hated it, but not because it had been on display. I was at least glad we hadn't paid full price. It wasn't a Miele, though, which I wouldn't anticipate you disliking. ;-D How much discount was he offering?

I purchased Electrolux Icon double ovens that were a display item and got them half price. Haven't installed them yet, but they are under full warranty. One of the SS handles looked dirty from people opening the oven but the salesman cleaned it up and it looks great.

I'm not fond of this unless a full warranty comes with. We purchased a DW from Sears off the floor. It was also a newly discontinued model. Nothing wrong with it that could be seen other than a few scratches on the control panel top, but we were told warranty would cover that costmetic.

After a few uses, something happened where it stopped working(I don't remember what), but Sears determined it would cost too much to fix, so we were able to replace it with a newer model. We paid the difference.

It's kind of like buying a car from a rental company. People drive them all the time, and don't care how they treat the car with door slams and the like. People do the same with appliances on the showroom floor.
