New sofa is here!

I mentioned a while back (when I was looking for a new coffee table) that a new sofa was in my future. Our other sofa looked fine, but it is sooo uncomfortable. DH liked it because it was huge (he's tall) but he gave in after I kept going on and on about American Leather's ultrasuede sofas. So, the old leather giant went down to the basement (which is getting an overall upgrade within the next few months) and my new, cozy sofa is here!

Here's the old sofa (and old coffee table): (Ignore odd position of chairs in the back -- we were moving stuff around)

And here's the new one:

Um, now I'm not quite loving the color of the sofa with the color of the end tables. I'll think about that another day...

It is very nice, but as you say, a very different color family than the old couch. I think what might help is if you were to put throw pillows on the couch that pulled in more of the warm red/red-orange tones that are in the furniture and the rug. The green is actually pulling purple tones out in the brown.

Brilliant, Les. You're right. My camera battery just died so I can't show a pic, but I just traded pillows with another room (orange-red-gold woven pillows, plus a sunflower pillow from Pottery Barn) and it looks completely different. Thanks!

Ack, change your batteries! I want to see! :)

I still love that coffee table.

I have an American Leather ultrasuede sofa and loveseat, going back quite a few years now. I really like their proportions and find them comfortable. Mine are very similar, Sue. I do have sympathy for your husband, though, we're all sized and shaped so differently that it's hard to find upholstered furniture that fits everyone. I'm 5'3 and DH is 5'6, it would probably be very different if we were 6 foot plus.

The ultrasuede has in general held up very well, though it's showing a little cat damage on one side, grrrr. My former cats never bothered it but the new generation hasn't been as well behaved. At the time we bought he sofas we chose ultrasuede because we figured it was more cat-proof than leather.

The gray and green is a cool combo!

That looks like the perfect couch to stretch out on for a nap!

nicole, thanks... I guess you like the green pillows! The sofa is actually brown, but I guess a gray-brown. Definitely looks brown in real life.

Here are the other pillows. Thoughts?

Looks great! I like the lime pillows with the sofa and painting! I bet the colors work IRL and you are not happy with the flash photos.
    I really like your furniture.

I like those pillow much better. Looks good! I believe ya about it looking better IRL. Sometimes my very brown LR carpet reads purple in some photos. Also, my deep red coverlet looks screaming tomato in pics, ha.

I like the last pillows much better as they tone down the end tables as they looked like they didn't belong with the green pillows (which I love but didn't seem to go with your other color).

    Wow,

Such a beautiful blend of color combination that is. I also have to redecorate my living room. I must try to follow your pattern because its really looking awesome.

Hmmm..can you try the lime pillows with the sunflower pillow? I think you should use the lime pillows if you can to tie in the lime chair.
    Couch looks veryyyy comfy!

i actually like the lime pillows better with the sofa (and pic above sofa!) than the other pillows...they also seem to offset the sofa somehow so that the rug looks better somehow with the lime pillows-to my eye...

love the new coffee table with the new sofa...do you need an endtable in the basement? and perhaps get a new glass end table to sortof match the coffee table??? it is more than just the color of the end table- don't care for the style of endtable with your new sofa.

Well, our new friends ashley and steve have been quite helpful, but I think I'll ignore them for now.

Anyway, last night as I kept looking, I wanted my lime pillows back in the room -- because they weren't right in the room next store, where I'd moved them, and also because I missed having them where they picked up the other greens in the room. (You can't see in the pic that where I'm standing, there's another chair w/ a green striped cushion.)

busy, I got away with the sofa replacement, not sure if I can get away with an end table replacement. I totally know what you mean, though. As soon as they brought in the sofa, I thought, uh oh, that table is not working. It's a great old antique table, so I just need to figure out where else I could use it... and then convince DH...

Sorry.....it is a brown....this is a very nice up-to-date look! :0) and no sacrifice when it comes to comfort!

Let's see how they look with your sunflower...don't you love that new pillow, by the way??

loribee, just for you, here's the sunflower pillow!

I don't normally keep plastic on the doorways... painters are here working on foyer/stairway/DS' room.

Love it! Pop the orange pillows on the lime chairs??
    sorry...I'm a pest.
