I don't think it's the same sink, if it's the same sink that Old1880Home has in the linked thread. The Ticor sink grids are different, they have smaller "gaps" b/w bars and, I think, heftier grids overall. Again, assuming the one Old1880Home has is the same, his/her sink grid has 4 bars b/w the edge & drain hole; the Ticor has 8.

Both the grid & the strainer, btw, are not included in the mrdirect sink but are in the Ticor. I noticed, though, that you can purchase both from mrdirect (~$6 for strainer & ~$18 for grid).

I'd email Old1880Home to find out what sink s/he got from mrdirect and how the grid and strainer are (is the strainer metal or plastic, for one thing). Even if the strainer is plastic, you can always get a metal strainer elsewhere. (Personally, I like the DuoStrainers I have in my kitchen sinks...very substantial and the best strainers I've ever had!)

What's mrdirect's return policy? If you won't lose much in a return, you could order one and see how you like it...return it if you don't like what you see.

Who knows? This may be the next sink phenomena!

The mrdirectint.com sinks are not Ticor sinks, but the do say they are also 16 gauge which is the same. My Ticor s112 grid has *21* bars before the drain hole! The sink in the picture does look nice, though. I don't know if many have experience with this company, but it may be worth a try if the return policy is good. Also check overstock. com for Ticor, that is where I bought mine. Galaxy tools has Ebay listings where you can 'make an offer' on their items and get them for a lot less than listed on site.

I was counting the bars running the long way...b/w the drain hole and the back of the sink in the picture w/the sink+grid...I recounted, it's actually 9 or 10 (hard to tell for sure). The picture of the grid separate from the sink is different and it does show 21 from the side to the drain hole.

I love them....quality, fast....easy.

I am a kitchen and bath designer and ordered MR Direct products for 4 months because I didn't have another supplier. Now that I do, I'm saying goodbye to MR Direct and the headaches that come with being their customer. Their porcelain & fireclay sinks show up broke all the time. Copper sink show up dented. They've replaced 5 broken sinks, set back installations, and if they refund you, they do not refund shipping (even though it's UPS's fault for the breakage). They don't mark the boxes "fragile" half the time. The final straw happened yesterday. They replaced a broken sink with a new model (we paid the upcharge and shipping to do so). That sink also showed up broken. Because we were a bit later to let them know, they are refusing a refund or a replacement. I would not use this company for anything over $50. You may regret it. We're losing over $600 because we DO know what good customer service is, and we WILL refund our customer. They are well aware that UPS breaks their sinks, but they use them as an excuse. "It's past UPS's policy". What about their policy? We're not UPS's customer, we were MR Direct's customer. Save yourself the headache. Don't order from this company.
