Kitchen Choices

I recently remodeled my home, with the kitchen being the big focus of the project. I was amazed at all the chocies that had to be made. Things like what finish did I want on the hinges of my kitchen cabinets. Things I never even considered.

I was considering what countertop material to use. I read a bunch of articles on the virtues of different materials, but it was frustrating. One article would say avoid this product and choose that one. Half the time the articles were published by the people selling the product. Plus I couldn't find all the information in one place.

I was also considering whether to go with Pro style appliances. Consumer reports said they were overpriced. But when I compared some of the features I really wanted, pro style were the only game in town. I definitely feel like I over spent on the pro appliances, but I would still do it again. I bought a Thermador with a built-in griddle. I love that range and every Saturday is pancake day. The griddle is way better thatn just using a seperate griddle over a couple burners.

Anyway, kind of late in my project I found a website that had a lot of good suggestions about choices for the kitchen. They compared options and suggested what was worth it and what wasn't. They were a little like Consumer Reports, although not as thourough. They don't cover everything, but I found it pretty useful. After completing my kitchen I read some of their articles about the choices i had to make, and their suggestions were pretty much right on compared to what I learned from the whole process.

Take a look at http://www.AcmeDIY.com and go to their kitchen section.
